Mabuhay at maligayang pag-alis sa Lemmy! ✈️

An abandoned community for the Philippines and all things Filipino! πŸ‡΅πŸ‡

Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.

I'd been a bit down lately because I couldn't figure out why my pen wasn't working well with my notebook. It would write smoothly for the first few lines then progressively get scratchier and thinner the further down the page you get. It wrote consistently on a Rhodia pad and my planner, but just wouldn't on my Midori. I just filled up the ink, so it's not that. Thought the problem was with the broad nib and replaced it with a medium size. Still ran into the same problem. Tested another pen with a medium nib from the same brand and still had similar results. Almost gave up and even mulled selling them off.

Found out this morning that the problem was the angle I was holding the pen at.

Check out the Jetpens YT Channel fountain pen playlist if you haven't. Very comprehensive yung guide nila.

6mos ago: Management creates a plan in case of ending operation by next year.

2mos ago: Management creates a 2yr plan.

1mo ago: Management cascades the plan to all employees.

Last week: Management scraps the 2yr plan and incrementally cascades a new plan.

Today: Management is still filling the gaps in the new plan, while people on the ground are executing the plan, pivoting as needed when new information arrives.

Fun chaotic times! I'm so gonna take a time off at least once a week for the next 3 weeks and expect a big bonus by December, or else...

Merry Christmas phlemmies!

Today’s Ask PHlemmy: What Instantly Ruins A Hamburger For You?

[–] R9442@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I disliked Jollibee's Yum burger for the amount of mayonnaise(or whatever sauce they put on it).

It's been awhile tho since I've last had it so maybe(hopefully) things changed?

Also pardon me as I've also just realized this doesn't quite answer the question, but I wanted to put this out there.

[–] Periwinkledot@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

[–] cottonmon@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

When the burger falls apart kasi masyadong basa na siya.

[–] mr_m00@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

The bun. If it's too airy and dry and not even toasted in the inside. (Looking at you Zark's)

"Juicy" patty. I mean, a patty that was frozen for months.

Imagine pinoys having a "green laser pointer night" where they shine high-powered laser pointers at the clear, starry night sky, however they want, as long as they can. Cheers, and joy!

Tapos naging safety issue sa mga eroplano 🀧

I hurt my knee. I hate it.

Wala na, plans are cancelled. I'm praying that it doesn't get worse because, you know, I have to go to work.

[–] malamignasanmig@group.lt 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

parang ang init ng ulo mo lately. i apologize on behalf of all the clumsy people of the world, particularly yung ate mong aligaga.
(because i am clumsy as hell and have inconvenienced countless folks. madali ba madistract si ate mo? baka same kami na restless and easily distracted- caused accidents and forgot to say sorry).

[–] monknonoke@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Mainit ba talaga? It might be because of our new schedule at work, binago na naman tapos ang konti namin sa staff. Hindi maiwasan mag pull off ng matagal na duty, I dunno if I've complained about it here already lol.

And now medyo ika-ika ako maglakad hindi ko magawa yung gusto ko (rollerskate today but my knee says no).

Napa rant tuloy ako sorry. Ate is just some random stranger during commute. Kung ibang parte yan ng katawan na mas kaya ang impact I'll be fine.

[–] malamignasanmig@group.lt 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Mainit ba talaga?

medyo. hahahaha. it is alright though, we all go through that once in a while. lalo na stressful pala work mo sa ngayon.

i know hindi ko kailangan magsorry but i find that it helps sometimes. if done right and with sincerity, napapatawa ko yung previously galit.

edit: hope your knee recovers soon!

YouTube now disables tailored feed to accounts with History settings turned off.

spoilerIronically, the best decision YouTube did in the past five years. lol

Takte, finally. Just because my daughter used my account to temporarily sift through some kids videos doesn't mean I'm interested in Pororo and Masha and the Bear recommendations. πŸ˜‚

[–] MixedRaceHumanAI@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Dude, you should use Google's Family Link for ease of parental control. Haha

Okay lang naman may tailored content, I just hate YT/Google's aggressive suggestions.

I mean windows for school (mostly they use Windows-exclusive software) and linux for everything else

  • 3GB EFI partition (kasi gumagamit ako ng systemd-boot)
  • 880GIB LUKS-encrypted partition
    • LVM PV na nag-ngangalang vg0
      • root / - 40GB
      • flatpak /var/lib/flatpak/ - 20GB
      • pacman-cache /var/cache/pacman/pkg - 20GB
      • swap - 16GB
      • home - 784 GIB
  • 100GB partition for Windows (strictly for school-related stuffs)
[–] heliosef@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

There's also the option of just using VMs instead of dual-booting.

This is what I use for my work. I have a specific work VM where I have everything Windows-exclusive that I need installed. Saves me the hassle of having to reboot when I quickly need something from Linux or Windows. Or having to deal with broken bootloaders.

There's a tiny bit of a learning curve to managing VMs though, and performance of a VM is of course not up to par running a native Windows installation directly.

For example, you won't be able to record and mix audio because of the latency. I still keep a Windows installation specifically for that.

But for basic connecting to the office VPN, running MS Office, etc., it's alright.

[–] ludwig@reddthat.com 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I would suggest though na dagdagan mo pa ng 50GB yung Windows partition mo, mabilis mapuno yun with updates, etc.

[–] decadentrebel@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

[–] heliosef@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

By the way, your partitioning seems fine except for the root. It's tough to upgrade rolling releases with that little space.

Although I see that you do have what looks like pacman package cache in a separate partition, so maybe it'll be fine. I don't really have experience separating that directory. And you can resize via LVM anyway.

I'd also consider using a swapfile than a swap partition, but it's not that big a deal.

Contemplating of killing my Smart Postpaid because of shit like this. Flash sms should be used for emergencies, not ads!!! May ganito ba sa prepaid?

That's nasty I haven't seen that on prepaid.

Thank you!! Smart's the only one with decent signal in our area, so can't really move away from them.
