Any suggestions on an easy way to get started? I'm not sure all the equipment I need and which is just nice to have, for example.

First things first: PPE.

Filter mask rated for organic vapors - Replacement lungs are hard to come by and we often use mica powder (it's called Satan's Glitter for a reason).

Nitrile/Latex/Vinyl gloves - I buy these in bulk. Find ones you can stand to use for an hour or more.

Ventilation - More of a concept, really, but you can purchase\make a fume hood. My setup is in my basement, so I built a system with computer fans and dryer hose that shunts out a window. Most resin is "Low VOC", but that's not the same as "No VOC" (and you've got to take that mask off sometime).

After that, you need some form of measuring\mixing vessels. While you can have reusable silicone cups for resin, you want a non-silicone cup for mixing silicone (ditto the stir sticks). Disposable plastic cups are... fine. Don't trust the measurements, though. If your resin is "by volume" instead of "by weight", pour each part in a separate cup and visually match them.

You will want a work surface. Silicone mats are preferred, but wax paper is a great start.

Finally, you need a way to clean your work area and tools. Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and paper towels are the usual tools. If you're in an area without paper towels, kitchen roll will do in a pinch. ๐Ÿ˜‰
