We made the decision to have one host for the syndicated show next season to maintain continuity for our viewers, and Ken Jennings will be the sole host for syndicated Jeopardy!.

Should’ve just been him all along. It’s wild that this took three years to happen. I can’t believe they managed to fumble this transition when they had Ken the entire time.

She doesn't deserve hate and animosity, but this was definitely the right decision. Her pacing and flow never worked for the game, while Ken seemed to take to it much more adeptly. His hosting feels natural and easy and he comes off amiable and charismatic.

She doesn't deserve hate and animosity

No? A science-denier and anti-vaxxer who shills her brand of vitamin supplements? I'm sorry, I think she deserves exactly that and I'm glad she's fucking gone.

What’s more maddening is that she has a phd in neuroscience from UCLA.

[–] StorminNorman@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

And Dr Oz used to be a world leading cardio thoracic surgeon. They let their feelings get in the way. Which isn't strictly a bad thing, but in these cases it has certainly clouded their judgement.

Fame is a hell of a drug I guess.

[–] crashoverride@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

She also has comments disabled on her Instagram, wonder why?

[–] realcaseyrollins@narwhal.city -3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I mean, that shouldn't mean that she shouldn't have a job tho

[–] realcaseyrollins@narwhal.city -1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

If she gets hired for another show, wouldn't you say she should be fired from that show too though?

[–] GentlemanLoser@ttrpg.network 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

If that show's audience doesn't care for her, absolutely yes

[–] realcaseyrollins@narwhal.city -1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

So you're saying she should be allowed to be a host or star in a different show?

[–] GentlemanLoser@ttrpg.network 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

... Yes? What's your deal, dude? I just said she'll be alright, as in, she's already wealthy and connected and I'm sure she'll have other opportunities.

I never said she didn't deserve to make a living or anything like that.

[–] realcaseyrollins@narwhal.city 0 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Ah okay. Usually people who use the same rhetoric you did ("she's antivaxx so it's good that she got fired") usually want these types of people barred from employment but I didn't want to make assumptions about you without getting a straight answer first.

[–] giotheflow@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

You made 1000 assumptions before they even made one. Be better.

Jeopardy fans everywhere: Thank God

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 15 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Everybody else: Who tf is that?

[–] Mr_Blott@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

I think this is a bit like trying to replace Richard from Pointless

[–] yesman@lemmy.world 41 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The spirit of Jeopardy and the legacy of Trebek would be forever changed by using a host with charisma. Ken Jennings has the perfect "I stitch the day of the week into my underwear" vibe that essential for reminding people to phrase their responses as a question.

[–] NewNewAccount@lemmy.world 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

But both Trebek and Jennings do have charisma.

[–] yesman@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

Trebek's rizz is nostalgia for the past, Jennings' is hope for the future.

[–] Mikey_donuts@lemmy.world 38 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Thank God. I used to skip the episodes she hosted.

[–] xkforce@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago (1 children)

As someone that stopped watching after Alex stopped hosting, what's wrong with her being the host? Like what is so bad about it?

[–] kamenoko@sh.itjust.works 25 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Hosting and Acting are two different skill sets, She never got good at keeping the flow of the game going.

[–] Mikey_donuts@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yeah she really didn't have a good flow. Hard to understand unless you actually watched her host. Nobody beats Trebek though. He was a natural.

[–] Socsa@sh.itjust.works 3 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

I watched her plenty and don't get the hate. I agree Ken was better but I thought Mayim had her own vibe, which was fine. The "flow" stuff felt nitpicky. It's not like she wasn't finishing games or anything.

[–] xkforce@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Fair enough

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago

ETA until they do a special guest episode with AI Trebek trained on every episode of Jeopardy?

[–] DestroyerOfWorlds@sh.itjust.works 11 points 11 months ago

Good. Byeeeeeee.

[–] Im14abeer@midwest.social 11 points 11 months ago

Thank you Jeopardy, this went on much too long. Hopefully they'll boot her from the Alexa version also. Her episodes felt absolutely clunky.

[–] ulkesh@beehaw.org 6 points 11 months ago

Finally. She may be an intelligent neuroscientist, but she has the personality of a wet sponge.

[–] Ghyste@sh.itjust.works 3 points 11 months ago

YAY! I like Mayim's acting but never enjoyed her hosting Jeopardy.

[–] BellaDonna@mujico.org 2 points 11 months ago

I loved she was the Big Bang
