News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

:::spoiler Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

Don't use reddit.

Make sure to leave a bad review in the app store and then uninstall it.

Beside the obvious don't reddit, it happens alot in the kbin (web app) and lemmy apps too.

I've taken to stopping to randomly copy my comments to the clipboard, or if it's an extra long response, writing it in a different app and then copy pasting it.

I was gonna say... With Lemmy it's more likely that it'll just fail to post comment, but I'm willing to deal with that as the fediverse grows. Devs are working hard to smooth things out so I'm ok with a bit of jank here. Fuck reddit though.

It happens in kbin a lot, but IME if you go back your comment is invariably still there in the text box ready for you to post it.

[–] fearout@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I’ve had this happen on kbin quite a few times as well, but even if it redirects to a new page with an error message, it always saves the text in the input field. Haven’t lost a single letter once.

Does it work differently for you? At what point does it lose some of your content?

Maybe it's the browser (on vivaldi on android) I'm using, and part user error. If it errors out, it still keeps the comment, but im also used to lemmy throwing an error and then still posting, so I hit back to double check, and if I return my comment is gone and I have to restart. The comment does turn into the post in front of my eyes, so maybe I should trust it.

I also have trouble when I add pictures, the add picture box doesn't go away unless i click off the "popup," if that's what you want to call it, sometimes I'll just hit the wrong button, cause everything is tiny, and it will jump to another page all together and when I get back, I have to start over.

Me too buddy.

[–] whatisallthis@lemm.ee 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Once I start spending 20 minutes on social media responses I delete the app anyway.

[–] Smoogy@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

Sounds like very dramatic pooping.

[–] NeroRecursive@jlai.lu 6 points 1 year ago

Time to leave then

[–] tunetardis@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

Not to rub it in, but here’s my response using the memmy app. (To be fair, I’ve read the development version has been a little crashy of late, but the app store version has been stable af so far in my experience.)

[–] pelya@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

RIF would save the message even if I reboot my phone

[–] Hazdaz@lemmy.world -1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Lemmy isn't much better! I still get "you have to pick a language" error messages on the app and when using the browser I get server errors all the time.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The difference being that one is a system held together by volunteers, spit and floss, dreams and hopes, the other is a major website that pays people real world money to prevent shit from happening. (also, don't reddit)

[–] Hazdaz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

pays people real world money

Tell that to the mods!

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Well yes. There are people who receive money from reddit in exchange for services rendered, making reddit a legitimate company that can be held to higher standards. And then there are the mods ~~(who, as we all know, are le ghey)~~ who need to be protected from this fact of reality at all costs.

[–] starlinguk@kbin.social -1 points 1 year ago

Eh, Kbin regularly logs me out when I try to post and then I get chucked back to somewhere completely different.
