Makes sense. They weren't selling well, and they didn't adapt to modern tastes. Their market probably aged out.

Yeah, based on the article it sounds like the owners were pretty much going through the motions, without any real plan.
It'd be prime real estate for a swanky downtown highrise. Maybe they can fix the traffic flow in the process haha
