"We understand that it may be a meme, but please refrain from this behavior for the safety of your health."

"Pleads."

It is occasionally amusing to go to Wikipedia's manual of style "words to watch" page:

This page in a nutshell: Be cautious with expressions that may introduce bias, lack precision, or include offensive terms. Use clear, direct language. Let facts alone do the talking.

Then look at some news headlines and see how many of them violate the rules on that page. Headlines are shit.

To be fair, that's about as "pleading" as you'll get from a legal team trying to cover Valve's ass.

Either way, Gaben's not my dad (unfortunately), so I'll do what I want! Sniiiiiffff

That’s not how this works is it?

Why smell good if not for smelling?

[–] deafboy@lemmy.world 22 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I thought I knew a thing or two about cancerous online news sites, but IGN has exceeded all the expectations. Any attempt to scroll down activates a redirect to the localized czech version of the site. Not only is there no dark mode, they are trying to pass the authorsip of the translation to the real human, despite the article being clearly translated by a machine.

[–] rikudou@lemmings.world 2 points 1 year ago

Heh, same happened to me. In the end I cancelled loading while it wasn't fully loaded and that helped.

I guess the guy they credited with the translation used AI without them knowing.

What else am I supposed to do with it? Play games? Ridiculous!

[–] anteaters@feddit.de 7 points 1 year ago

Sniffing the fumes has become part of playing games on the deck.

[–] Walican132@lemmy.today 13 points 1 year ago

They just don’t want us to be happy.

[–] KISSmyOS@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

Sniff, sniff...MMmmmmhh, smells like Arch!

[–] BobbyNevada@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 1 year ago

Come on, baby! Don't hold out on me! I need those Steam deck exhaust fumes! I'll suck your dick!

Consume the Fumes

[–] CyanFen@lemmy.one 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

"fumes" you mean the warm air?

[–] amelore@slrpnk.net 6 points 1 year ago

You wouldn't smell it if it was pure air. It's VOCs from the inks, plastics, solder flux, thermal paste, etc

[–] Subtlysubtle@sffa.community -1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I wonder if it's producing some ozone.

[–] rotopenguin@infosec.pub 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don't think there's anything there capable of making ozone. My guess is it's the heat-sink compound outgassing?

[–] Static_Rocket@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Well, I needed to remind myself, but it seems to be a mix of thermal pad oil and warm plastic...
