Cool story
That's pretty solid, considering it's only like the 5th popular sport or so.
I've always thought if us Europeans are gonna downplay the quality of their league as tier 3 or 4 equivelant by English standards, we have to give them due credit for turning up to watch it each week - especially when they could be watching elite Basketball, American Football etc as you say.
Also that figure comes without the help of significant away followings boosting the figures. If the US was scaled down to have the population density of any of the 'big 5' leagues, I suspect that figure would go up by a couple thousand.
Holy Schnitt
Bundesliga is the most fan friendly league in the world. Not perfect, but the best.
Monaco drags a bit the average for France
MLS is sitting pretty with over 10,000,000 total spectators last year.
It wouldn't change everything but I wonder how much Monaco drag the attendances numbers down
It should be mentioned that several clubs in La liga , Ligue A and even Serie A were promoted and managed to stay in the top flight playing in relatively small capacity stadiums, while the Bundusliga is in flux with heavyweights still in the Bundesliga 2 like Hamburg and Shalke.
I just think it’s crazy that my local stadium has just a few less average compared to ligue1
Because League 1 is trash
I wonder how these relates to the population of each country.
Germany almost doubles in population to Spain, while having less teams at the top level. 36 Vs 42 teams.
Such small numbers compared to the NFL
Its because there are so many sleeping giants in the bundesliga 2
Honest question for the French fans here. Excuse my English ignorance, but is Rugby bigger than Football in France?
France has a big Rugby playing culture which Germany doesn’t have.
