If you made the visualization yourself, tag it as [OC]

DO NOT claim "[OC]" for diagrams that are not yours.

All diagrams must have at least one computer generated element.

South of the United States. You know, New Mexico and California also border Mexico. Texas really needs to get over itself.

Below Canada

Not surprised US dominates.

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (6 children)

Am surprised Germany is number 2. Wonder why that is?

[–] kboy101222@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

No idea, but half the posts on everything past page 6 are in German and Dutch, so I'm not surprised

I also see a lot of French posts despite them not making the top 10

Maybe because feddit.de was one of the early country-specific instances? They've had more time to recruit and grow.

Germans hate centralization, love privacy and federation.

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Don't I know it regarding privacy! I like to use Google street view to see what old places I've lived look like, and Germany is a big white spot on the map compared to most countries.

Ich könnte sagen ich bin überrascht aber feddit.de ist's nicht :)

All the big german subreddits have automod link to the equivalent lemmy community under every post

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Presumably they do that because Germans value their privacy more than most.

It definitely shows

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 year ago

Doubt they will dominate when you look at users per capita.

[–] fievel@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

Well not surprising but what would be more interesting IMHO would be a per capita (well or by some multiple, not sure lemmy is popular enough to be per capita stricto sensus) stat... I'm probably a bit biased by the fact I live in a small country...

I would have thought there were more Russians based on... some posts...

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 1 points 1 year ago

They're all just Americans that are in denial.

Where are you seeing this? Looks cool. I wanna check it out.
