Flipping great wadges of cash is the long and short of it.

And they are only the 10th highest net spending team in the last decade.

Spent lots and lots and lots and lots of money while being bankrolled by one of the richest owners in the league?

Bore off. Can you not take a day off??

Spending lots and lots of money isn't a guarantee, just look at Arsenal - all that money wasted and still haven't won the Intertoto Cup

Makes me some hope that it’s possible for us again …

In only 4 seasons Aston Villa has gone from newly promoted to finishing 7th! Has there ever been a more impressive rise from nothing to absolute greatness in PL history?

... is this sarcasm? I can't quite tell if this is sarcasm.

The net spend merchants will be out in force here.

It’s a good article but I find it a bit padded. Why no mention of how shit Stevie was? Poor signing in Wesley and Ings? Come on 😂 Wesley played for half a year and had a very serious injury which he’s never recovered from. Ings played great and banged in goals but then Unai came in and wouldn’t choose him over a younger more hardworking Watkins. That’s a tactical sale if I’ve ever seen one before. The amount of dead wood Villa also had to get rid of upon promotion back to the premiership so yeah they were gonna be spending like most teams who get promoted.

Ings lost Emery’s trust after the Stevenage game for sure. He was captain for that match. It wasn’t completely on him but he should have stepped up to lead.

The bit about making good sales included one good sale (grealish), one good sale given context (chukwuemeka having one year left). Would have been a good opportunity to mention how shite we have been at selling players over the last four years.

The same Tifo who have been calling villa bad because of underlying numbers🤓 🙄

Saying it's all about the money is so lazy. The most important factor are Unai Emery and his team. We've spent lots of money before he got hired, but real success only came through him.

You see it with other clubs who spent a lot of money, too. Only when they hire a highly competent manager it starts to really work.

My tinfoil hat theory is that villa have suddenly become good since prince william has started being open about supporting them
