A popular argument that explains the existence of fake healers is that health care is too expensive, which is why most people gravitate towards it. That kinda makes sense, but you also have "outliers" (like my dad and a few other people I know) that believes in it despite being able to afford check ups and operations. Then you also have Gina Lopez that famously turned down conventional cancer treatment (that she could easily afford) in favor of snake oil and Gerson therapy.
