Hello, Godot community! Slightly long post coming!
There's something i thought was worth discussing. I'm planning on learning Godot and making my own 2d Topdown Pixel Adventure game, which would heavily rely on the story. The reason i'm considering switching from RPG maker is because while it does a lot of things for you, it's quite limited and, if we're fair, janky as hell too. I want to add different mechanics and minigames to my game and also have movement that doesn't feel like garbage. (and probably actual parallaxes)
I already have a draft of my game on RPGmaker, which is about 10 minutes long and a bunch of assets from it which i made myself, so i'm thinking, redoing and possibly upgrading it would be a good practice. My heavy inspiration is Oneshot, Night In The Woods, The Crown of Leaves and a lot of other great (and mostly indie) games. So, while story based, i'm thinking of adding different gameplay modes. For the most part, the game is likely to be a 2d topdown and occasional sidescroller parts and minigame segments
So, what I'd like to ask: Is there anything i should know before diving headfirst? Any good tutorial or general knowledge you've got? Any advice? Anything else you'd like to share? I'm thankful for anything, thanks!
(p.s. i know i will have to code ๐จ๐จ๐จ )
