Please excuse the poor quality photo, I finished weaving in the ends JUST as our annual Spooktacular movie marathon was kicking off so it was heckin' dark and spooky in our living room πŸ˜‚

Spiderweb top as per the tutorial here: https://youtu.be/VtQjWlf8NKA

Random black fingering weight yarn I had lying around πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Tbh the pattern is not amazingly well-designed, there are weird gaps under the arms and it assumes your body has certain proportions that mine does not (it's very tight around my hips, and fixing that the way the video suggests would result in the neck being way too big).

But it's also a very quick, very simple bit of fun, and I'll probably spruce it up a bit with some fixes for next year so I can wear it outside the house!

Ah I'm glad you got there with it, was it a tension issue in the end or did it just sort of work itself out?

Looks great, really, it definitely works a lot better on your body shape but hopefully I can make mine a bit more accomodating for next year πŸ˜…

Yeah, definitely a tension thing. My previous attempt was tight and small and starting to curl in on itself by the time I got out to the 6th or 7th ring. This one was much better shape wise and I learned to enjoy the feel of working with the looser yarn.

I had to build all the way out to a chain 41 row for this to fit my shoulders and hips properly. I also tried blocking a project for the first time. That really helped the chains relax into the right shape and it gave me a chance to shape the whole thing to fit better as a top. Because really, it wants to be a big lace doily :)

that's dope as hell. Please say you're planning on adorning it with little crochet spidies πŸ₯Ί

Love it!

Hope you wear it handing out candy 🍬

Thanks! Sadly we don't actually get any kids coming round here, but I will be wearing it anyway just on the off-chance!

That is delightful! How long did it take?

[–] thegiddystitcher@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Honestly hard to say as I've just been picking it up and doing a few chains whenever I had half an hour spare for the last few weeks. But maybe about 8 hours in total, given my habit of doing it while watching football and losing count and having to do bits over again πŸ˜…

Very cool! If you could add a toy spider to sit in the web when you wear it (perhaps attaching it to the shirt underneath) that'd be next level :D

Definitely going to add something for the updated version next year!

More candy for you then!
