I understand Dems couldn't trust McCarthy. But them nominating (and voting, was it?) a Dem who has no chance of becoming Speaker was just... irresponsible. And as a result of this kind of Dems' poor negotiation even with relatively moderate Republicans, the House elected this MAGAt.

(I think I read Dems called for Republicans to vote for their Dem candidate... If that's true then that's like an elementary school level incident in my eyes.)
