Fun fact: The starting lineup today with the exception of Son and Hojberg are all players that joined in the past 2 seasons, and if you consider that Bissouma usually starts over PEH then it would be 10/11. Just seems neat

[–] Boner_Patrol_007@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Paratici has been instrumental in rebuilding the team.

They couldn’t. Could they?

[–] heeleyman@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Nah I think it's a bridge too far for us this season, I'll settle for CL

[–] ShiftBreaker@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (5 children)

Real tight up the top, around a quarter of the way in. Could be a close season, assuming City don't do the usual and go on a seventy billion game winning run again.

[–] haha_suh_dude@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (5 children)

That’s usually what the league’s decided by nowadays, most teams challenging can string 3-4 good games together but being able to do 10+ when it matters is what wins you the title

What excuses are people going tk come up with for this now?

Or can we just say spurs are actually really good?

[–] FriendlyGhost08@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

When you look at their performances and schedule they have been good but not as amazing as the table suggests. They will for sure be in top 4/5 battle though

[–] NDdownVOTED@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The excuse is it’s October and there is plenty of time left to bottle it.

[–] R1as@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Umm... Look at who they played and how they got some of those wins? They beat the 3 newcomers and Bournemouth, 2 of those (Sheffield Utd, Luton) barely. The Liverpool game was obviously a gifted 2/3 points to them, we will never know that exactly, but fact is they got plenty of help, and still played like shit even vs 9 men and needed a lucky last minute own goal.

Of course they are good, and they got some great games and results as well (I think they did deserve to win more than us in the Emirates too), but it just boggles my mind why people are getting crazy about this as if they were walking the league. Let's see how they stand after the very tough run of games that's still awaiting them this year.

Only 1 point of Europa League places.

Preparing for GD to become -10 this weekend.

[–] bareaclampedlebron@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Spurs have an early edge on their top 4 race against Villa, Newcastle and Brighton.

Still think that the title is between Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

[–] meganev@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You're dreaming if you think Man Utd aren't in the top 4 race.

[–] HeftyHostis@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

You’re forgetting we have Alexander the Great

Top half side, decent chance we finish top 4 (in London) which would be an improvement on last season!

[–] zahrdahl@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Youll be 5th in London for awhile after weve had a disasterclass on friday

[–] 5norkleh3r0@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Can’t see any team other than City or Liverpool winning this season, and it’ll probably be City again. Newcastle should be top 4 as well, they are scoring for fun. Spurs look fantastic, hope they can keep it up. Arsenal are polished and a genuine threat. Great season so far.

[–] gpkj@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

"Top.. Topspurs, what's that?"

[–] Lilchairio@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!!

[–] FloppedYaYa@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Has there ever been any other season where as many as 5 teams had starts this horrendous?

[–] Pascalini@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Where have all these spurs fans come from all of a sudden? Didn't see any for years 😕

[–] TuTopsy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

That’s funny, I know so many more arsenal fans now compared to 3 years ago. Weird huh

Spurs to go 20 points clear then lose their last 8 matches of the season

Do i want Spurs to win it? Not really. But if it becomes a Spurs - City race, its up the Coys as they say.

[–] prettybunbun@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

So exciting to see lots of competition.

… until KDB comes back and Man City drop 1 point from Jan- onwards.

[–] ewadizzle@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It’s the history of the Tottenham

[–] youknowimworking@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

It's going to be spectacular when Spurs lose the league in the last matchday in a heart wrenching way isn't it?

I know we aren’t the best but I can’t believe people had wolves as genuine title contenders. Too much talent in that squad to go down and there are way many worse teams

[–] Krismas_Bonus@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Spurs’s start is impressive but I wouldn’t get carried away just yet. They’ve only played one game against top opposition (which they won under dubious circumstances) and their other wins have come against relegation fodder and bottom half teams.

Also -and the fact that they can focus fully on the league with no Europe is hiding this- but they’re one or two injuries away from disaster, as their squad is thin and the drop off in quality from starters to backups is drastic.

I do expect them to finish top 4 this season, but the best they can hope for is something similar to Arsenal last season: brilliant start; top of the league for most of the season; drop off towards the end to finish in second place behind City.

[–] Love_on_Mars@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Our best midfielder hasn't even kicked a ball this season... a few key signings in January and I officially dare to dream

[–] Zombienerd300@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Unfortunate to drop down to 9th. Was hoping we could beat Villa and get that 5th spot. Most of our upcoming games should be winnable as well. We could have been top 5 during Christmas.

Guess I shouldn’t have been so optimistic.

[–] kilgore_trout1@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Just keeping half an eye on Sheffield United goals conceded. That is a record that I’d be happy for Swindon to get rid of…

[–] mozzy1985@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How many goals do they need to concede to take the crown?

[–] kilgore_trout1@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

101!

Edit: there were 22 teams back then though so a few more games.

[–] ManyWrongdoer9365@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)
