Hi. I’m currently in search of a good house in my area and have been visiting some of them already. It seems that it will be a long journey and I will be maybe seeing 30-40 houses, maybe even more. As I walk in and around the houses, I take notes and pictures and thinking to make an excel file, however storing pictures in excel cells would probably be little unusable. Is there any simple tool that I can use and I can create comparable fields with possibility to attach pictures and pdf files etc? Thank you.

It almost seems like a solid project management type software would be a good target here. I would also say, if it were me I may stick with the excel spreadsheet and then maybe just create individual photo albums for each property (presuming you're taking all these pics with your phone), or if you're using a separate camera, just export them into a folder for each property. Its decidedly low tech, but would require very little startup effort.

I've done this before (albeit 10 years ago) and that's essentially how we managed the process.

Thank you for suggestion. It will be basically my failsafe if I can’t set up a basic tool. I’m checking some low code stuff, tried saltcorn, promising functionality, shitty ui 😊

Airtable, notion, or any of the open source clones. Personally I don’t like any of the popular clones, but I’m picky.

I recently relocated to another country and I had to find a place to stay. I used Anytype to save all resources (bookmarks, pictures, notes, etc), tagged them, and then created a Set (in Anytype, a set is similar to a query).

Hint: don’t bother. You really aren’t going to remember more than 3 properties. Just keep track of your top 3. Usually on an extended house hunt you spend less and less time after the first few. Often we walk in or just drive up and it’s an instant no. You quickly narrow down to the ones you want.

Second hint: the internet is great for pre screening (getting rid) of choices. But many issues such as big layout issues, a smoker or vapor or pothead lived in the house, or any negative detail they don’t want to advertise can only be found by inspecting the house.
