Rae's so sweet, trying to help Claire get close to Thane. It was adorable when Claire let Thane pat her head. And then really stuck the landing when it was called out that Ousama game has nothing to do with being king.
Also, I love this little tackling on the topic of homosexuality. It was great in the novels too and I'm glad they kept it in. It leads into a really raw conversation on the topic, and on Rae's own complex feelings wrt Claire.
I'm really happy with how this is being adapted.
It was nice that they addressed our hero's out and loud gay. When it comes to fantasy worlds, they can be any level of accepting, so its nice to see it acknowledged become a talking point.
If Rae got that good just playing chess vs the AI, the difficulty must have been cranked way up. Brings back nightmares of me trying to play Shogi in the Yakuza games.
Very heavy stuff in such a light hearted show. I really liked the way they tackled it though.
Curious as to where it goes from here and whether there's a chance for those two or not.
