Could be a technical/visual mistake by broadcasters. Regardless it was offside

[–] RainDMask@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Absolutely ridiculous decision to disallowed the goal from a fair cross into the goal which one, the offside was unfair because he let the ball go all the way and wasn't interfering the shot that came in. Second the goalkeeper looked like a noob by not standing guard against his goal but decided to go in the net with a gentle push which is enough to not let the goal stand. The refs need to think straight next time because they're very soft to Spain.

How does that get ruled offside in the end? Refs don't get called to watch the replay for offsides?

We're about to make this thread so bad that the threads on Israel will look like fucking r/aww in comparison. The way God intended

Referee gets called over to VAR too look at a foul. Gives the foul. UEFA 10 minutes come out and say the decision was offside but refs don't go over to check offsides.

Genuinely making it up to cover their arses cause they employ a bunch of incompetent cunts

/u/MarcoRuss shared both Spanish goal replays, but unfortunately missed the moment of the match. More crimes against Scotland swept conveniently under the rug.

What movements? The keeper didn’t even try to go for it?

[–] martin14ilianov@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Waiting for the Scottish McTears, don't think we have forgotten about the previous match thread

[–] IsleBeeTheir@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Shows how shite you lot are that you're taking this much pleasure lol. Still top of the group.

[–] CULTURALLY-EXPLICIT@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's genuinely enjoyable watching the Spaniards in thay thread get so unbelievably rattled, all over a wee diddy team who, until recently, hadn't been in a tournament since the last millennium.

And all this just for Scotland still to be sitting at the top of the group, lol

[–] CNF1G@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Not a bad performance considering we were missing Tierney who is IMO so vital to the system we play.

Now time to hope Spain can beat Norway so we qualify.. 😉

The referee checked for a foul and signalled for a foul.

Serdar Gozobukyuk was obviously happy enough with UEFA and the RFEF’s brown envelopes.

the only non-scottish matches i have ever watched are japan in the 2022 & 2018 world cup

[–] hexperson@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

So dramatic 😭😭

[–] Tuna_Purse@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Greater Catalonia getting the refs help with that win.

[–] vetokele@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It’s likely some sort of translation issue. They were checking if Hendry was interfering with Simon all along The bloke doing the graphics has interpreted it as checking a foul rather than offside.

[–] JackoN360@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If I had a penny for every time a Spanish team benefited from a dodgy referee performance I would have several pennies

[–] cynical_scotsman@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

When the ref looked at the VAR there were no lines drawn?

[–] BruisedBee@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Anyone that thinks that goal was reviews and overturned for an offside is a fucking moron. Refs don’t go to the monitor for offside and he also gave the free kick and not offside signal.

[–] UnnecessaryUmbault@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (7 children)

Shades of that Italian fouling Hutton in the corner.

[–] CULTURALLY-EXPLICIT@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If it was perfectly correct why did they signal one way then the other then signal it a foul and then retroactively say it was offside?

For me just now, I don’t let it ruin the moment I celebrate regardless. So it’s more waking up the neighbours and then feeling like an idiot. If the goals stand it’s worth it but if not I have some apologies to make 😂

But going forward I’m afraid it will take it away and I’ll actually have to consider even watching at all. It sucks

[–] Nordie27@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He is standing on top of Simon and has his hand on his chest. There is absolutely no way Simon could have got around him to get the cross

No matter how the decision making process transpired it was the correct decision in the end

Well done, East Portugal. Now run along and secure us our Euros place on Sunday, whilst we fuck about in France

[–] sjdr92@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

not even a bit of sexual assault from your FA?

First of all, it's hilarious to see r/soccer once again getting their knickers in a twist over a perfectly correct refereeing decision. The Scotland player was offside and clearly interfering with Unai Simon. That's why the goal was disallowed not for a foul..

Anyways, Spain were clearly the better side and if Ferran scores his early sitter than it probably would have ended 4-0 or something. Scotland showed great fighting spirit and threw their bodies on the line but no one can deny that they were outplayed for most of the match

Spain has now won 25 home matches in a row in Euro qualifiers. More than any other side in history

It initially got disallowed for a foul, why the fuck is the referee being called over to the monitor for an offside and being shown Hendry near the keeper. They are just trying to cover their arses for absolutely fucking it

[–] GlasgowGunner@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The problem is uefa told us it was for a foul, then changed their mind to offside.

Even if he was offside it’s borderline at best. The keeper made zero effort to get the ball. He wasn’t being hindered at all.

[–] Foreign_Lab6151@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

They aren't required to do any signals for offside, that's the linesman's job
