Hallo guys,

I was wondering if any of you doesn't know about some sites to download ISO or whole bluray disk (or whole sets) of movies not just ripped movie in mkv/whatever type.

For example I look for lotr trilogy 4k extended bluray collection to download and it's nowhere to be found.

I was using private torrent czech tracker for this but it was taken down few years back.. I wouldn't mind private tracker.

Thx and long live the flag..

Rutracker has a lot of ISO rips, maybe start there?

Unfortunately lotr isos are not there.. Only original 180gb movie files. But good tip for sure. (y)

Thx, good aggregator of sites. Slightly more crowded with options than ripped.guide I look into that.

This got me curious since I never heard of people uploading Blu-ray iso. What do you need an iso for over the ripped movie? Burning to your own Blu-ray?

Special features? I do miss dvd commentaries.

Most remuxes have commentary tracks passed through. Heck, good encoder groups like QxR, TAoE and many Internal’s retain them.

I’ll agree remuxes generally drop extra video files though you don’t strictly need an iso for those, just a full BD disc dump in folder form which are far more common than ISO’s though far less common than single file remuxes.

I don’t think LoTR 4K’s changed the extras and behind the scenes from 1080p either so finding disc folder dumps of the old HD releases should suffice for OP if that’s all they want.

It's more about nostalgia.. When I was 8 years old, Harry Potter, Lotr and Matrix (also Star Wars, but Disney fcked it up for me recently) were coming out and since then it's my holy trinity of franchises (not that I understood Matrix back than 🤣, I was glad I could watch it behind my mum's back). So I'd like to have all these as a whole collection experience.

Also I was getting these movies as DVD releases for Christmases, birthdays and I liked the bonuses and menu theme music, commentaries, etc. But I don't like the physical part of that media. I'd have to buy bd drive or player, which are expensive in Czechia, also empty bd media is costly and most of all not comfortable to play.

So I could straight away buy original released 4k bluray but I really don't want to spend money on something like that (I don't have much money anyway), I also don't want to give to rich mf of wb any of my money (they have more than enough) and I'd prefer digital copies cause it's comfy and I have a lot of free space.

I’m sure some are out there. But it’s far easier to find a 4K REMUX file which maintains the original video and audio (and usually commentary tracks as well). But you do lose the video extras, behind the scenes etc.

A good playback app like Plex, Kodi, or Infuse (AppleTV) will present the files in a nice looking way.

[–] nostradiel@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I've been using Kodi for a long time. As I said it's just about nostalgia and collection.

I believe these are “remux” when searching. I don’t think anyone posts an ISO but the remux contains the entire contents of the original disc but in a friendlier format for playback on more diverse hardware (mkv containers for instance instead of the bdmv container).

[–] Faceman2K23@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 year ago

a remux is just the video and audio data put into a new container, no compression. but it is just the main movie file, no menus, no extras, nothing like that.

the common tag for searching for whole disks (BDMV folders, Video_ts folders or ISO images) is BR-DISK

[–] TCB13@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I don't believe those formats / repacking. They never keep it as the original.

Pass the popcorn often has them. But it's invite only so you'd have to figure out their invite/recruitment.

[–] nostradiel@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, I looked into some private trackers and it's quite a hassle to get in..

Keep an eye out for TorrentLeech open registration period. Usually happens around Christmas, and they have a very good seeding policy and lots of freeleech content. Easily my favourite tracker.

[–] nostradiel@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Thx, I will. (y)

search for the "BR-DISK" tag
