Some chicken breeds are more aggressive than others and will tend to peck weakened animals. In particular, lightweight breeds of egg-type chickens tend to be prone to cannibalistic behavior. Nutritional deficiencies. Nutrition also plays a role in cannibalism.

Also probably the same vulnerability to whatever parasite or virus they may have.

There's a reason cannibalism is rather rare in nature, it's not a very good behaviour for survival.

WTF are you talking about? Cannibalism is super common in nature.

Go look to the human foods that are safe for chickens to eat.

Sift through some, like I did when we got a chicken.
