How is it cleener or greener than a normal electric train?

They are useful as stop gaps where lines are not fully electrified, have electrified sections around cities where they charge up and don't need to use fuel when on older track.

Compare with diesel trains. Yep way cleaner. Now an electric train can go on parts that needed disel before.
