People get triggered when you say "we should be kind to each other" and will call you a woke, liberal snowflake. Those are also the same people who will screech about "making everything political" wherever they get any blowback. So yeah, everything is political and always has been.

!I think everyone on here has good intentions. But many are proactive about it to a extent where they feel a duty to ostracize anyone who doesn't. And they immediately start suspecting anyone who hasn't settled on their systemic solution of choice of having said bad intentions. ("If crypto-anarcho-eco-mercerism is the obvious way to stop all the bad things, why would someone advocate for anything else than because they don't want to stop those bad things?") I think you could have a server where 100% of people had good intentions, and they'd still end up accusing each other of dog-whistling and whatnot. Like, you don't need to ensure you share the same value system just so you can discuss a funny cat video.!<
