Wait a minute, if we cut this and birth rate falls, economy also falls because lower population usually leads to smaller growth in economy. Now if we deport hardworking immigrants, it will also be worse off for the economy.

What's the goal here? Make things worse?

[–] Zink@programming.dev 6 points 1 day ago

I’ve said this a few times. The developed world was built around growth, and most of the developed world has a total fertility rate problem. And here are the US conservatives, dumbest of the dumb, doing everything they can to drive people out of the country.

The wikipedia article has a nice color coded map.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_total_fertility_rate

[–] Notyou@sopuli.xyz 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yes. Rich people make bigger gains when the economy crashes. They can buy up assets for cheap. Look at all those 'record breaking profits' made during COVID.

It is actually how the system works, just on steroids. Capitalism has the innate tendency for monopolization. At the end, the whole world will belong to one person and that person will rule everything. its just totalitarianism with extra steps.

[–] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

ofc. The goal is to destroy the country so oligarchs can come in and buy up everything at a fraction of the cost it would have cost had they not destroyed the country.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

This of course will turn the US into a 3rd world economy and lose its status as a world power. The countries that will do well over the next century are the ones that can prevent oligarchs from dismantling their economies and destroying their society.

[–] knexcar@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Seems like a win for housing affordability and climate change though!

AND blame it all on the democrats. And the immigrants. - fuck, we deported those ...

Happy world population day

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 87 points 2 days ago (2 children)

40% of us children are born into poverty🤡

I guess the pedophiles who own us need a steady supply of poor people's children for them to rape.

Welcome to 2025 America ✊

[–] charade_you_are@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

project for pedophiles 2025

[–] x0x7@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But they are cutting the subsidy for creating more poor people. If they benefited from poor people existing they wouldn't do that.

[–] AngryRobot@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They're too short-sighted to see that. They're also booting out many of their cheap, opressed labor that are also consumers and taxpayers.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 3 points 1 day ago

That's pre text to set up gestapo and labour camps IMHO

the regime is putting in place the infrastructure for fascist oppression that will be used against citizens. Migrants are just easy target to transition us into oppression..

They ways go after undesirables first.

[–] Biggles@lemmy.myserv.one 14 points 1 day ago (2 children)

And if you can't pay, they put the baby back in.

[–] cdf12345@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

Baby not guaranteed to be inserted to the same mother

[–] cosmicrookie@lemmy.world 73 points 2 days ago (5 children)

Having to pay, to give birth, sounds shocking to some if not even many civilized countries

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 5 points 1 day ago

Here's how it works in a poor third world country: https://archive.is/FL9qe (Original Washington Post article)

It's not just ER. Family medicine, dental, vision, full cancer treatment, palliative care... It's all free, including drugs, for every human, citizen or otherwise, legal or otherwise. There was a conscious decision not to restrict healthcare access and not to employ people to restrict access.

[–] Squizzy@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I dont have private healthcare and our health srvice is shit but I have mever put my hand in my pocjet beyond parking for any pregnancy related anything, and my kids have been to GPs and A&E without charge.

ThebUS is a shithole country

[–] AngryRobot@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

As an American, I agree.

Was. It was. Well I mean it will be till next year then instead we will have lots of uninsured births and I assume a huge uptick in unskilled at home births and a huge uptick in dead babies. MAGA and MAHA indeed.

No Planned Parenthood is already not able to take Medicaid/Medicare in some places

[–] neons@lemmy.dbzer0.com 26 points 2 days ago (11 children)

Wait, you guys have to pay for births?

Don't you have problems with sinking birthrates?

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 18 points 2 days ago

You can't have an abortion in some states either now.

According to the most recent data, the average cost of having a baby in the United States is approximately $18,865. Fortunately, if you have health insurance, you will typically pay $2,854 on average, or about 15% of the total cost.

https://www.uwhealth.org/news/how-much-does-it-really-cost-have-baby

[–] Sir_Kevin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 day ago

Yes, and it can cost tens of thousands of dollars.

Also yes.

[–] morphballganon@mtgzone.com 6 points 1 day ago

Do you not understand we have a class issue? Any cost the oligarchs can pass off onto the proletariat is done with gusto.

Anti-Choicers were never pro-life. Never.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 29 points 2 days ago

anti-poor, anti-woman, anti-black.

take your pick. usually all three.

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

If I was “pro-life,” I would be investigating the fact that black women in the US are 3.5 times more likely to die in childbirth than white women are.

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins laid out the administration’s vision in blunt terms on Tuesday. “There will be no amnesty. The mass deportations continue, but in a strategic way,” Rollins told reporters after meeting with Republican governors. “We move the workforce towards automation and 100% American participation, which, again, with 34 million people—able-bodied adults on Medicaid—we should be able to do that fairly quickly.”

Slimey piece of dog shit.

[–] roofuskit@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

Just to be clear they are counting every single adult on Medicaid as "able bodied" which is far far from true for Medicaid.

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

All of those “able bodied adults” on Medicaid will of course be able to do farm labor.

Just like my younger sibling, who has a genetic disorder with scoliosis that makes him look like Quasimodo and had three open heart surgeries before the age of 18.

This article doesn't even touch on the fact that Planned Parenthood can no longer take Medicaid because of this budget bill.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 13 points 2 days ago (2 children)

At least the religious idiots who have nine or twelve children will go bankrupt.

So what you are telling me is that if we cut it we'll have fewer poors?

[–] Asetru@feddit.org 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Europeans: "That has to be paid??"

[–] Almonds@mander.xyz 17 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

US: Land of the Free™️*

* terms and conditions apply, see Capitalism and Free Market for more details. Federal, State, and Local Government reserves the right to selectively enforce additional fees and conditions

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

All three of my children were born due to Medicaid. No way would I have afforded even one of my children births. My youngest is 16 and without Medicaid guess I will pay out of pocket for his healthcare.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

MAGAmorons: HAVE MORE BABIES ALREADY GEEZ!!

Also MAGA: let's cut Medicaid to feed the poor poor billionaires.

🤡 🤡 🤡

At least if it does come down to civil war the conservatives would already have destroyed their communities.

"We must be blessed because Gawd took that one too!" Fucking idiots.

[–] Allonzee@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I always point out that the capitalist robber barons profit directly from having a pre-born, pre-literate workforce pool, they just want it for free.

Part of their whole socialism for costs capitalism for profits thing.
