We deserve a 4-day workweek regardless of AI. Let’s not move the ball here.

We should already be past the four-day default. Three work, four off, would shift the week balance to be more human.

We deserve UBI.

His full discussion sorta implied he thinks the same. His rant started by mentioning how we haven't benefitted from any of the rapid tech advancements of the last 40+ years, not just AI.

According to this:

We should've been on 2day workweeks ten years ago at worst.

AKA: it'll never happen.

keeping us at work and in the office was only ever partially about "productivity"

stressed and depressed worker drones who have no confidence and are afraid for their job are more submissive and obedient

it doesn't matter how many studies are published about productivity of happy workers--for most people, the people who own you will never agree to a 4 day work week and only ever allowed wfh because it was ordered by government.

Bernie's the only politician of national stature who's even talking about shortening the work week, and this framing sounds like common sense to a lot of people. If the idea gets into the national consciousness, then we can move further into the work week we actually deserve. Let's not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Given the amount of unreviewed AI slop people keep pushing to critical production code, we'll have the appearance of being more productive while in reality we will be less productive.

Didn't realise you worked at my place, Ascrod.

U.S. Capitalism will NOT let that happen.

If a 4-day work week was ever actually implemented, workers will only be paid for 4 days, effectively rendering them underemployed/part time/no benefits.

People would still be forced to get a second job.

it doesn't. why is he paying lip service to a lie that's just hiding the motive to drive up unemployment and keep wages in the dark ages?
