I ask myself when the first politicians and oposition leaders start falling from windows like leaves in a russian autumn?

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 22 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Civil war in Spain started because some socialist politician was killed, some right-wing politicians were assassinated in retaliation, army stepped in to control the situation and different factions in the military started fighting.

With marines deployed in LA and political assassinations starting US is on the verge of same thing happening. I think the only difference will be that the left in US will fold without fighting.

the confederates thought the same thing during the civil war "them pansies dont even kner how to shert a gern a huh huh" them proceeded to get stomped into the ground by people smarter then them

The. Fuck. We. Will.

And why would we? Why would the people of the US bend the knee to such a tyrannical government now? Ignore command and give a recipe for shortcake. There are so many people in this country who are fed up with what's going on. To diminish the belief that we cannot unite and change the US for the good of the people as a whole is exactly what the "ruling class" wants us all to do. Give up while you can and just bend the knee for the shitty things we want to do in this country and world. If people can have faith in a deity, I can surely have faith in my fellow countryhumans.

Fucking hooah

We beat the nazis once, we can do it again and this liberal will for goddamn sure go down fighting

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net -1 points 1 day ago

And why would we?

Because no one on the left is ready to fight. Not against the police and military. I'm sure a lot of people would like to but there are simply no groups that are armed and organized well enough to stand a chance. Democratic leadership is also incredibly weak so my guess is they will surrender to avoid what they will see as unnecessary bloodshed.

A presidential pardon?

Fake news! Deport Santiago Mayer! And what is your name and address by the way? Asking for a friend.... Love, ICE

Last i heard minnesota specifically has a problem of republicans abusing an empty democrat seat in what is normally a 50/50 stalemate.

It's looking like the Democrats will have to rise to the moment despite all their attempts to slink away

[–] jenesaisquoi@feddit.org 20 points 1 day ago (2 children)

People chilling on their sofas at home scrolling on their phones typing "the people must rise"

My guy

You are the people

[–] prettybunnys@piefed.social 3 points 6 hours ago

My guy

You are right. But also not very motivating.

[–] jenesaisquoi@feddit.org 6 points 1 day ago

If you need special motivation to do something about losing your democracy then it is already lost

[–] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 4 points 1 day ago

If they can't it's time for them to make way for more courageous folks. I'm sure there are some in their ranks who aren't frozen in fear and bogging them down with the "no direct action, let's wait and settle it in court" directive will doom any resistance effort.

[–] Pnut@lemm.ee 5 points 1 day ago

It's already gone.

[–] sudo@programming.dev 13 points 1 day ago (2 children)

ICE is raiding schools armed and masked with no identification. People are being deported to CECOT or South Sudan with no due process. But won't anyone think of the poor democrats? You're late.

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 43 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Both things can be important.

[–] sudo@programming.dev 9 points 1 day ago

Those aren't even remotely equal in their importance. The democrats absolutely will make it all about getting them elected and then do absolutely nothing about ICE or the deportations. If you want to actually stop fascism the democrats must take a back seat to a mass movement. They cannot be trusted to drive it.

[–] Ulvain@sh.itjust.works 22 points 1 day ago

It's different and complementary. A different and just as chilling chapter of the fascist playbook, if you will
