Edge of Dawn News:

Back in January, we revealed three things:

  • Kelly Gay is writing a new Halo novel.
  • It is titled Halo: Edge of Dawn.
  • It will be a Master Chief story.

You’ve waited and wondered about when the novel will be set in the timeline and what the story could possibly be, and the time has come to now lift the lid on what’s been cooking.

“2560. After eliminating War Chief Escharum and sending the Banished leadership into chaos, the Master Chief continues the fight on Zeta Halo, accompanied by his new AI companion and their loyal pilot Fernando Esparza.

As Spartan-117 searches for scattered allied forces, a young combat medic—tortured and imprisoned for months by the Banished and the enigmatic Harbinger—may hold the key to unlocking deeper mysteries within this ancient ringworld. But every step towards answers is haunted by the sinister and elusive blademaster Jega ‘Rdomnai, who is hellbent on vengeance....”

With an impending reset for Halo, I'm glad we can at least get some more of the Infinite story somewhere! If I remember correctly, Kelly Gat also did The Rubicon Protocol. That book was an amazing companion to Infinite's story.

Kelly’s books have all been awesome, Rneegades is one of my favorite Halo books easily.

I haven't read Renegades yet! I'll absolutely have to check it out

Man, I was really hoping Halo 7 would be the first 343/HS game to actually continue the story of the previous one and not abandon it to start over again.

Infinite's campaign wasn't bad, it wasn't exactly amazing either but I was interested in getting more but we all know how that turned out. Hopefully whatever Halo 7 will end up being will still continue this story, this book just won't be the main next part.

And hopefully Jega doesn't die in this book, would be cool to have him in a game again with a bigger boss fight

Yep this feels like HS is going to wrap up the infinite storyline and drop it like 4 and 5, I’m also expecting Jega to die in the book :/

For once I am fine with going for a clean slate before Halo 7. I found Infinite's story almost nonexistent, and the little there was? safe, noncommittal. Nothing of note happens in that game. You wind up on the ring months after everything went down. It feels utterly static. A far cry from the space operas of the original trilogy. They tried to do something with Cortana, story-wise... but it's corny af. I unfortunately lost all confidence that this studio can produce anything interesting.
