The entire meme structure can be considered historical too. Well played.

The Complaint Tablet to Ea-nasir is an ancient Babylonian clay tablet dating back to 1750 BC inscribed by customer Nanni to merchant Ea-nasir, complaining about Ea-nasir selling him sub-par copper, a practice Ea-nasir was known for. [knowyourmeme, wikipedia]

What does it have to do with jerking?

[–] frog@feddit.uk 10 points 13 hours ago

The term jerk came from this point in history.

"The guy that sold this copper to me was a jerking."

This was mistranslated to:

"The guy that sold this copper to me was a jerk."

Historically at least 1 person has jacked off

(This is also a play on rage comics which often started with "le me doing an action" while also having a general theme of "random = funny")

Big if true

Well it was big, and then it wasn't afterward.
