Fantastic news

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 42 points 12 hours ago (4 children)

There's not really any news in that article.

Notably, Musk said he would be stepping back from DOGE after May but didn’t go into any detail about what that would mean. Even though he said he would be easing up on his involvement, the billionaire said that he would remain in the government through President Trump’s entire term,

This is meaningless.

[–] Modern_medicine_isnt@lemmy.world 15 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

And do you know how to know it is meaningless... it starts with "musk said". Everything after that is worthless.

[–] dellish@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago

Even the word "notably" before that is useless. Notably something un-notable occurred. Great, thanks.

stepping back from DOGE after May

Appointed temporary government employee which means he only could work until June without congressional approval. Set this up from the start to take heat off of Trump and allow Trump to seem reasonable compared to Musk when Trump 'fires' him in June.

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 11 hours ago

I'm aware of that, but obviously the concept of "work" doesn't apply to Musk as it does to government employees generally.

He will have the same influence and whatever level of involvement he wants regardless of whether he's a temporary government employee, a consultant, or just a contact.

"Oh no! The consequences of my actions!"

Nah fuck this guy. We need to make Nazis unforgivable again. None of this halfway bullshit or trying to see their side of the story.

[–] superkret@feddit.org 42 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

He will never feel any external consequences.
Best we can hope for is a bout of depression that'll make him do something we all won't regret.

[–] TommySoda@lemmy.world 36 points 14 hours ago

I want him to lose it so badly that he starts blaming this administration for everything that happened to him and starts going off against them. That'd be hilarious.

I wonder how many people will have to die for Elon's self driving taxi Hubris in Austin for Texas to pull authorization. As I understand it, the Texas state government hates the City and Its residents. I expect it to be atleast a 9/11s worth.

Ketamine wearing off. time for another hit

[–] AnitaAmandaHuginskis@lemmy.world 36 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

Well, that really is uplifting news. For me that is, not for that fuckhead.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

Maybe he'll hit that threshold, and his kids he never sees will get a ton of money. Wouldn't that be something

[–] easily3667@lemmus.org 3 points 7 hours ago

..it brings on many changes...

[–] Axle182@lemmy.world 50 points 14 hours ago

It's a start but we can do better, guys

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 46 points 14 hours ago (5 children)

Oh no, please don't hang yourself Mr Elmo, that would be such a waste of good rope.

[–] seejur@lemmy.world 18 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

Yes, but on the other hand, he would create a new national holiday

He’s leaving Trumps team to spend more time at Tesla. The one thing that would benefit Tesla is him spending less time there.

[–] lagoon8622@sh.itjust.works 4 points 9 hours ago

The board should have replaced him a long time ago

[–] rimu@piefed.social 228 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

It's refreshing to see a major publication just flatly stating that he's a fascist.

[–] Geetnerd@lemmy.world 55 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (2 children)

Well, his parents are genuine, Bona Fide Nazis who wanted to move to apartheid South Africa from Canada.

[–] ExtantHuman@lemm.ee 4 points 10 hours ago

Oscar, big cigar, Elon Musk can't sell a car.

[–] selkiesidhe@lemm.ee 23 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

You are a piece of shit and now everyone in the entire world knows it. There's no coming back.

With all that money and influence you had the chance to make a real difference but instead you decided to be a greedy disgusting fuck.

No one gives a shit about you. Go to Mars and live out your pathetic existence.

Finally! Someone talks about profits instead of stock price!

[–] AidsKitty@lemmy.world 7 points 11 hours ago

Building a business and getting involved in politics is financial suicide 99% of the time. It's one thing to work behind the scenes but to be the poster boy is just reckless. It is a tragic situation because Tesla was the only EV company in competition with the Chinese and now the Chinese will dominate global EV sales.

Those with Ketamine OD on their bingo cards are getting excited.
