No. I have hexbear blocked, but I still see their users. It will block posts from that instance, however.

Ok perfect, that's what I was hoping!

It used to stop you from getting notifications of replies but still seeing them.

Now you get replies, which isn't exactly a good thing, if I block a whole instance it's because their users are insufferable

I think those should be two independent features. My main reason for blocking instances is so I can browse All without getting posts in languages I don't understand. If they respond in English to an English post I'd like to see it.

I have been wondering that myself for a while now...

I'm seeing tons of "No comments" despite there being comments... sometimes dozens kd comments aren't there....

How does that work with defederated instances?

[โ€“] otter@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

When an instance is defederated, that happens at the server level. That content doesn't get loaded onto your Lemmy instance to begin with, and so you wouldn't see anything. From memory the comment count would be lower on a post on your instance compared to the foreign one

That might be your language settings. Go into your main Lemmy settings and make sure that 'Undetermined' is selected
