Lol.
I always just immediately created a new account as soon as I was banned, even if it was just temporary. Reddit accounts are meaningless now.
Then I got tired of doing that and came to Lemmy. Problem solved.
Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:
Rule 1- No brigading.
**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **
YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.
Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.
**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.
Lol.
I always just immediately created a new account as soon as I was banned, even if it was just temporary. Reddit accounts are meaningless now.
Then I got tired of doing that and came to Lemmy. Problem solved.
I also got an extremely soft ban on one account after just talking about Lemmy and piefed.
Mmm… pie…
Indeed! Makes me want to create some simple flyers. How will world spread with the Fediverse getting censored?
Yup, been on Reddit for 14 years and have never been banned. I had 2 bans just last week. I'm done with reddit. That site is a huge piece of shit now.
I swear I went from like 2008-2015 without a single encounter with a mod. Then it became a lot of posts being deleted for breaking arbitrary rules. Then it became constant harassment by these power tripping dorks and bans that were often unjust. Then the third party apps were ripped away so they could put ads in every 5 posts and then inside the comments. I bitched about all of this nonsense but stayed… Now it’s AI moderating, shadow removal of posts, being unable to say the name Luigi in any context, and warnings/bans for simply upvoting posts that go against the official corporate narrative. I won’t stay for that nonsense.
They're asking their users to leave. Its about time we oblige them.
What a shitty site. I don't miss it.
I found the perfect way to not get banned from Reddit: simply don't go there.
the only way I end up there lately is through search results. even then half the time what im looking for got blanked out or deleted by someone leaving reddit.
Genuinely such mixed feelings about all the deleted old posts. I swear it's well over half of the time I search up some kind of tech issue and all the relevant posts are gone. But the replies saying "thanks this fixed it so fast!" are always still there lmao.
Like I'm glad there's less and less of a reason to go to Reddit. Fuck that site. But also... goddamn!
you could try checking archive.org or using undelete services (are those still a thing?)
Archive should probably work, but I always seem to forget about it lol.
I only access Reddit through libreddit instances and they usually have links to various undelete services in place of the deleted comment, but they never seem to work :(
is your tracker protection off? there's usually a reminder but i personally keep forgetting anyway
Absolutely.
Just delete your account and uninstall reddit. Best decision I made. I left 7 years and around 300,000 karma. Now I just use reddit via Google searching for instructions or IT tips.
Doesn’t deleting your account also delete all your posts and comments?
No, it just marks the user as deleted
Good to know. That’s a downside of Lemmy. When a users is deleted or permabanned, all their stuff is deleted.
Agreed - Even before this, the only thing I really used reddit for was to search. It's unfortunate that Reddit is really the only search option with a decent chance of surfacing the information I want to know - most search results if you don't add "Reddit" at the end are AI slop, ads, or AI generated listicles.
I think they're going the Twitter-> X route. Make it so unusable for the people who would give any pushback, that all that's left are the people who are going to cause real harm and the others that are too addicted and/or stupid to leave.
Reddit brain drain has been happening for years, and it's already embarrassing how much the quality of posts has dropped. Now it's about to get so much worse.
I was noticing an uptick in the quality of the posts in the last month. It's to our benefit here.
Agreed!
Just started my Lemmy adventure. Unfortunately, even the morons are jumping ship now.
It's just like... You know? Don't worry about it Scro...
But in all seriousness I'm glad Lemmy exists.
Sorry to hear
