The problem with vandalising or destroying swastikars is that the cameras continuously monitor the vehicle and surrounds.

Balaclava, or motorcycle helmet, as much skin covering as possible, and an approach on foot or bicycle would be wise if someone were to attempt such an egregious, obviously illegal, act.

If you already have a can of spray paint in your hands, that sounds like an easy problem to remedy.

At least if you know where the cameras are

[–] Not_mikey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 27 points 13 hours ago

Eh, they can't really do anything about it. My brother had a tesla, pre fascists Elon, and someone through a rock at the windshield while it was parked. The camera captured everything and you can clearly see the guy but he couldn't do anything about it. The cops aren't going to go on a manhunt through the city for a vandal, this was in Detroit they have better things to do, and the guy looked unhoused anyway so he wasn't going to get him to pay any way.

Fuck me Lemmy, you are tickling me this night.

It's even money between vandalism and the owner showing his colors.

We are in theonion levels of reality now

Now? We've been here for a decade. The generally dystopian sci-fi show Black Mirror didn't make a new season in 2020 because the world was too bleak and fucked up, they put up posters for season 6 which were just mirrors.

[–] holycrap@lemm.ee 13 points 16 hours ago

I had a similar thought. How many of these are the owner using vandalism as a cover.

More of this

No more looking the other way as people fund nazis

Interesting. Whether you as a potential buyer would avoid tesla or not based on your dislike of the CEO's politics, would you buy a car that has an increased chance of being vandalised due to the CEO's politics?

Insurance is going to get crazy expensive.

Yeah there was another thread where OP was pretending to ask about the ethical considerations of "vandalising" teslas. Thing is, I presume OP was a tesla owner because their definition of "vandalism" included drawing things in the dust on the rear window.

In my opinion it's a great way to harm Musk financially. Honestly if you're driving a Tesla you're carrying water for Musk. Everyone has known he's a shit head for a long time now. It's certainly possible for someone's well meaning grandma to be collateral damage but so be it. Not knowing is not a defense.

I wouldn't have the nuts to spray a swatstica on someone's car, so not necessarily advocating for it and saying that's what people ought to do, but shit if you feel like it and are aware of the potential consequences then have at it IMO.

Cyber truck wasn't going to last long anyway. It should have been apparent from the get go. Rivian was going to market and Elon panicked. They rushed it out and it's a relatively low volume vehicle. Tesla is notorious for lack of after sale support. I'll be surprised if there are any left on the road by the end of the year.

People still buy Hyundai despite increased risk of being stolen with a USB cable .... so yeah.

[–] seathru@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 13 hours ago

You don't buy a Hyundai because it's your top choice. You buy Hyundai because it's what you can afford.

[–] WhatYouNeed@lemmy.world 4 points 15 hours ago

Hyundai living up to their well deserved reputation

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 15 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Deserved

If you drive a Tesla now, you support Elmo, double so if you drive that monstrosity

[–] jonne@infosec.pub 3 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

Eh, I would reserve the hate for cybertrucks specifically. A ton of people bought a model 3 or whatever before he went full Nazi.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 16 points 16 hours ago

If you bought one of those idiotic cars, you knew.

[–] griff@lemmings.world 10 points 15 hours ago

Cybercuck appropriately labeled

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 6 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

Did the owner buy this as a wrap to protect the car?

[–] metaStatic@kbin.earth 4 points 16 hours ago

you're risking the same time at summer camp if you draw a nice little picture or if you throw a can of paint on the windshield so it's un-drivable.

Honestly if they catch fire on their own or with a little help who would even know, amirite?
