Brave paid for ads on yt to download Brave, in order to block yt ads.

paying ad middleman and platform dumb move

Install adblocker, preferably ublock origin because it’s the gold standard.

Nifty idea and a noble action, but it still supports advertisements

I think Tumblr did a good job with this when they created the "Blaze" thing. For like $15, you can "blaze" a post, which will put that post in an ad slot for like 100 people, and you can pay more to show it to more people. This basically allows Tumblr to run with reduced dependency on actual ads while allowing people to force whatever garbage post they want into a random selection of users' feeds. The real kicker, though, is that you get no say in who your post is shown to - no demographics and Tumblr has no algorithm, so it's entirely random - and you can blaze other people's posts. It's like a chaotic evil version of c/CuratedTumblr or c/MicroblogMemes and very much in the spirit of Tumblr's userbase.

What we need is an ad blocker that replaces all ads with turtles

This had confused Travolta vibes, but with Muppets.

I bought an ad on a podcast to tell people I had nothing to sell and how much I hate ads. They were running a discount. I wouldn’t have paid full price, but it amused me to do it at the discounted rate.

This episode is sponsored by some_guy, some_guy doesn't have anything to sell they just want you all to know how much ads suck. And sponsored by Lockheed Martin, fuck the poor, especially if they're brown, Lockheed Martin.

since Lemmy doesn't have ads, I forced my instance host to save this file instead. Enjoy this cool photo of a ~~salamander~~ newt. Peace.
