Weird vibes here. This is a beta test for a feature update to the actual browser, the part we like using. Not some AI bullshit, the actual browser.
Try it out. See if it's good. Provide feedback if it's bad, that's the point. This isn't even an announcement for a change, it's an announcement for an opportunity to test a potential change. Just be happy they're working on the actual thing they should be, and provide constructive feedback.
Wow that's terrible. I will continue to split the search bar back into its own separate field because it already searches for legitimate addresses too much.
Don't take that away from me.
Community says focus on the browser.
Mozilla does that. Community says "not like that!".

I hope they leave it an option to keep the search engine selector on the bottom, that way it's just one click; having to do an extra click on a dropdown would be of no use to me.

One example that I think is a step backward: "Search term persistence ". I don't want this, I want to be able to see the URL I'm visiting. I think I'm able to remember what my search was. This UX "improvement" doesn't add any value at all, it straight up removes value.
To be fair, there are features I like, though: Moving the search buttons into a separate menu is a good choice if you ask me.
Also, this all is highly subjective.
The search term persistence is nice, when you want to change what you searched for, e.g. add another word to narrow it down more. It's been the behavior on mobile for a while, and I was skeptical at first, too, but you just really don't need to see the URL of your search engine. Well, unless you're trying to add it to the browser, but at that point, the search term persistence won't yet happen.
Yeah the search persistence is the only one that raised an eyebrow for me. I think it's cool as long as is easy and obvious to get url if you want.
The @keyword thing seems cool to me. I use the various shortcuts (random symbols) for those occasionally and have to relook them up so a slightly longer but easier to remember alternative seems like it would be nice.
