My youngest isn't old enough to be a scout but still wants to keep up with the older siblings. So we are including a siblings-only class at this year's Pinewood Derby, and this first-timer is getting a little extra help from dad.

Are there any other scout dads here on Lemmy? I don't imagine it's a large demographic here.

Kids are done with scouts now, but we built 3 different cars across the years and they nabbed 1st place twice, and 3rd. Good times.

Neat! We had CO2 cars when I was younger. Basically the same thing, just with a CO2 cartridge plugged into a hole at the back of the car. We race to see which design got the farthest. Man that brings back some good memories

When I was a kid we did sailboats instead of cars one year. To race we blew our boats along a trough filled with water. I'm amazed nobody passed out from hyperventilating! I still have my sailboat from 1989 tucked in a drawer somewhere.

My son's just a toddler but I had fun doing it when I was a scout :)
