all out

I am not sure we have the same definition of all out

[–] PenguinMage@lemmy.world 6 points 2 hours ago

Wait wait wait... they got so close... "is doge just a way to enrich the rich through h1bs" the whole grift was to enrich the rich! They were so close to grasping... then turned inward and were going "I thought I could get mine"

MAGAs are angry, armed and violent - the biggest danger is coming from inside the house.

[–] orcrist@lemm.ee 8 points 7 hours ago

About the visas. Any visa closely tied to employment will be abused. All employers who use it know this. If we really care about imported labor, give them long term no-strings visas, and after a year or three, citizenship.

[–] skuzz@discuss.tchncs.de 32 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

So now the media is trying to normalize the term civil war, huh? We need to be more careful with words.

An online pissing match between a bunch of uneducated morons on an echo chamber platform run by a troll on the spectrum, does not a civil war make.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 3 points 10 hours ago

Yes, and I agree authors ( journalists anyway) should be much, much more careful bwith that word.

Having said that: the current Maga leadership is one huge bowl of self serving incompetent idiots that love to point at others to hide their failures. They have been polarizing US society for a long, long time and at this point It won't take much for infighting to start. Since most (if not all) of these people are of the Ben Shapiro "I win arguments by just yelling I uder and longer than you" type, I feel there is a very realistic chance that an actual civil war might happen. If not between left and right, then already between various conservative groups

"We don't have a monarchy" says woman that wanted to crown Donny the American God-emperor.

[–] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 23 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

They already "weekend-at-Bernie's" him most of the time, his brain is mush.

The rambling, incoherent mess that will be his inauguration speech will be one for the history books. Maybe he will even be the first president who loudly shits himself while being sworn in.

[–] Thorry84@feddit.nl 9 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Implying there has been a president that has quietly shit himself while being sworn in. And I have to say, I believe it

[–] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Roosevelt was paralyzed from the waist down, so he definitely also had no control over his bowels and likely wore adult diapers.

[–] Thorry84@feddit.nl 1 points 7 hours ago

Great, now I feel bad for making fun of a cripple. Thanks mate

[–] gamermanh@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 10 hours ago

Trump, the first time, duh

[–] Carmakazi@lemmy.world 95 points 17 hours ago (5 children)

I know we're all itching for some good news but this is just a Twitter spat, hardly an AlL OuT cIviL wAr.

I'll believe it when they start tangibly sabotaging each other. They have a tendency to fall in line in practice.

[–] Jackcooper@lemmy.world 1 points 28 minutes ago

For real. There was an all out civil war in America, it happened in the 1860s.

[–] Xanis@lemmy.world 27 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (3 children)

They fall in line when they have a common, reachable enemy. As another user recently said, which I believe was wise. - paraphrased: The only reason they're fighting is because we haven't made ourselves a target.

[–] DankOfAmerica@reddthat.com 3 points 5 hours ago

MAGA doesn't want to promote of accomplish a stardard political goal like most other political parties. MAGA just wants to win. Once they've won and defeated their enemy, they need to find a new one. First, it was Obama, then Biden, Harris, immigrants, BLM, infectious disease experts, southern immigrants, and on and on...But they don't really believe their platform. It's unstable and lacks internal consistency because they say whatever to win. Once they beat their enemy, they have no goal. It all falls apart. I think the smart strategy for the next 2 years is for Democrats to stay out of the news, out of social media, and irrelevant. Let MAGA go at each other.

[–] Carrolade@lemmy.world 8 points 14 hours ago

Let's not ignore that there's a real, policy-based disagreement here. Tech companies like to be able to import top talent from wherever they can get it (and are generally correct that this is overall beneficial), while white nationalists are dead set against the idea, as it strikes directly against the very core of their values.

It's a legit disagreement, and pretty foundational.

That said, I do overall agree that we're kinda beaten at the moment, and too busy licking our wounds and regrouping to care that much about this.

[–] finley@lemm.ee 10 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

I think that mindset is dangerously misleading. We are all still targets, it’s just that these people are currently so distracted by their greed forpower and money that their cohorts are just bigger targets.

They didn’t forget about wanting to hurt and or kill all of us in order to achieve their goals. They’re just focused on something else at the moment. And that is not going to last.

[–] Xanis@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

It isn't that we aren't targets, only that we aren't currently making ourselves immediately targetable. That said, we do need to brush off our fairly minor defeatism and deal immediately with the slowly encroaching apathy. Yes, the cult idiots will get theirs as they will be a majority negatively impacted moving forward, however we do need to collectively step up constantly.

I truly believe we can make it the two years necessary to set in a rather sizable doorstop. We just need to work together on attainable goals.

Remember how the old Soviet Union had leadership which was very opaque, and there were a whole class of "Kremlinologists" who would figure out who was in favor by how closely they were standing to the Soviet Premier in photographs of public events?

This is similar, we can figure out who is close to our new Prime Minister by how he treats them on Twitter. "X-ologists"? It's dumb, but so is everything in this timeline.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 16 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

Lara Loomer losing her checkmark on Twitter is a bigger deal than you think it is.

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 3 points 12 hours ago

Just buy a new one what's the big deal, anybody can buy those now

Only if you can shovel tons of cocaine into her, like shoveling coal into a locomotive steam engine.

Damnit, Gramie! We just said!

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 5 points 11 hours ago

All out Lemmy Civil War engulfs Bahnd and gramie already!

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 46 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

Sign of things to come .... I'm not bothering to read that stupidity.

The next four years (and probably more beyond that) will just be never ending rage politics, nonsense, distraction, diversion and general stupidity while those in power get to do whatever they want in the background. There will be so much noise everywhere that very few if anyone will ever notice what is really happening in the country. Not notice of course until it's too late and too far gone for anyone to be able to fix it.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 24 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

Whether it is worth reading or not, it is, I think, worth showing how quickly things are fracturing. I really didn't think it would start crashing down so quickly. They all hate each other, but I thought they would at least make it to the inauguration before they started getting the knives out.

Now you have a Lara Loomer camp and an Elon Musk camp and I don't know that this is going to be easily fixed.

And like I said, imagine what this is going to be like when Trump dies.

[–] Skyrmir@lemmy.world 10 points 14 hours ago

Loomer is disposable to the movement is how that will be fixed. She'll be on a stage next to Liz Cheney by next month.

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I expect when he dies whoever takes power will start a witch hunt looking for foul play (regardless of cause of death) in an attempt to maintain the cult of personality, and maybe declare martial law.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 6 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

The power struggle before that even happens will be very ugly.

[–] Lightor@lemmy.world 6 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

I think it honestly could happen right away. Once he's in office why not deem him unfit and have Vance step up. Someone way easier to direct and message with.

Lmao the entire article is hilarious
It's like watching a bunch of middle school kids argue.

[–] finley@lemm.ee 16 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I’m glad to hear it. The more obstacles which stand in the way of him achieving his goals, the better. It’s even better that it’s coming from “inside the house“.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 17 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

Honestly, at this point, I'd say their whole regime collapsing due to constant infighting is America's best hope.

[–] finley@lemm.ee 6 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (1 children)

Oh, absolutely. And thank goodness it’s starting in earnest before the delusional dementia patient takes office.

Although I think it is a far outside possibility, it would be especially amusing if Trump was deposed before he’s even inaugurated and JD Vance takes office instead.

Vance may be an evil piece of shit, but at least he’s not literally insane. He’s also, clearly, too much of a coward to push his rhetoric beyond much resistance.

What really baffles me is how the hell Trump is even still alive at his age and with his lifestyle and diet. That can’t last long.

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 6 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

hes like mirror universe ozzy osborne.

[–] finley@lemm.ee 4 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

I keep trying to imagine that, and everything I imagined is terrifying.

Nah, it’s only vuln people who suffer under such circumstances

[–] winterayars@sh.itjust.works 3 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Not only them. Everyone will suffer, including Trump (etc). The real fear is that one side "wins" and gets to do whatever they want.

[–] nifty@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

Tbh no, in “normal” bad circumstances rich people like Trump escape a lot of suffering because they’re insulated by money.

The only time the uber rich suffer is when other uber rich or powerful target them, like look at the state of billionaires in China or Russia and you’ll know that money doesn’t mean shit in those countries.

American uber elites who want to create an Indian/Chinese/Russian like regime in America will suffer when they get that wish because right now they’re protected by the woke liberalism they hate so much.
