The memes havent caught up yet. They actually found casings for the full book title "Delay Deny Defend" and the shooter additionally carved the "Depose" on one of the casings as the final conclusion to this phrase.

Tbh the articles might just be wrong about one of the words, but together these two articles used as source for the wikipedia article contain all the mentioned words.

I'll update it tomorrow. Right now every freedom unit of my body aches and I have a fever. I need to rest.

Dont worry about it, i was just being pedantic because lots of news outlets are still calling the reference to the book a "maybe" which is annoying because everything about this shooting is as clear as day.

He used a gun designed for putting down animals. Incredibly based.

This is a weapons expert with experience with both of the types of weapon you're talking about and he says it's definitely not a VP9 or a welrod. https://youtube.com/shorts/POubd0SoCQ8

He pointedly makes no comment on all the people celebrating.

A lot of people in the comments seem to agree that this guy probably knew the gun wouldn't cycle and was expecting to clear malfunctions, which is why he seems unbothered by them. He may not have had access to legal and proper methods of suppression, hence the poor setup. Probably for the best because a registered suppressor would be easily traced.

I'm not able to watch that video right now but I definitely will. Thank you for the correction.

Animals don’t deserve to be insulted like that. The ceo more akin to animal excrement.

[–] lambalicious@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 2 weeks ago

Now now let's be fair, at least animal excrement has a direct, practical purpose when put down on the ground.

It looked like in the video he was collecting the casings instead of letting them drop?

Edit: according to Wikipedia he was either clearing jams or using a gun that required manual cycling, for anyone else wondering.

My guy probably forgot to use a piston and direct threaded the suppressor to the barrel.

Need a piston to get a semi to cycle, but direct thread captures more gas to keep it quieter.

There are pictures of them so he definitely left some

Whether it's this guy or someone else, he is a prince among men, he is a gentleman and a scholar, and he is an instant fucking legend...cooler than the other side of the pillow that I pray he always sleeps soundly atop.

Those photos aren't the same guy. Different nose shape. Compare to the Starbucks photos

One of the few edge cases where disinformation is good

[–] Benjaben@lemmy.world 21 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Eh, maybe, as long as wrong guy doesn't get arrested and harassed and / or martyred for the sake of closing the case.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 23 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Judging from the response of the internet, which of course could be wildly different from the public as a whole, it doesn't seem like a crazy idea that at least 1/12 jurors would refuse to convict the real shooter. Seems like a possibility of mistaken identity only increases those odds.

[–] Benjaben@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Hmm, fair point.

The evidence doesn't seem reliable. Not guilty.
