For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

That's the spirit! Let this become a trend. Let Musk become what he fears the most: a genuine laughing stock.

I don't have a Tesla but it has honestly become hard for me to get excited about the incredible things SpaceX is doing.

[–] riodoro1@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

And rightfully so. There most likely won’t be any great scientific and exploration leaps made by space x because they have only one goal: money.

Spacex: the final fundraising. These are the voyages of the starship. Its five-year mission, To explore strange new avenues of investment, To seek out new capital in untapped markets, To boldly extract more private value from public spaces than any robber barron has before.

[–] riodoro1@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

You should be their pr guy

[–] Burninator05@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

Any science or exploration that they do will be because NASA has paid them to do it.

I see that as one of many ways that Trump is going to hurt us and funnel money to his friends.

I told a Tesla recruiter ‘I’ll never work for that fucking Nazi musk’

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Conversely, my conservative friend just got a job with X. Said he basically told them he loves everything Elon's been doing recently, and was hired almost immediately. Internally they are clearly favoring conservatives too. Guess what? Conservatives aren't buying EVs, and libs don't want to support Musk. The only way Tesla survives is Trump kleptocracy giving them money and government contracts.

Gonna have to work out some exploits for the cybertruck. I bet the police are gonna end up being the biggest customer.

He’s poison for every company he touches.

Twitter used to be somewhat fun & useful. Now it’s absolutely garbage.

SpaceX is doing great things, but the fact they he gets credited for their accomplishments & innovations casts a dark shadow over all of it.

Tesla could have been the next great American automaker, but with him at the helm it’s hard to justify buying one.

[–] kometes@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

SpaceX is not doing well. They are taking money for a moonshot that according to their own data will take 37 flawless refueling launches in a month to get the fuel up to the craft that will go to the moon. They are a space elevator company that charges more than the Russians charge.

My guess is that they are more than 15 years away from lunar trip without even a landing.

I rented a car recently and spent $20 per day extra in order to avoid getting a Tesla. I got a Chevy bolt instead

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I bought a Bolt instead of a Tesla. Solid car. Nice and easy to hold all my son's baseball gear and two dogs. Good on mileage and comfortable as hell. Oh and it's cheaper.

Will be interesting to see if there’s a Tesla sales slump next year compared to other EVs.

[–] IphtashuFitz@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

It may not happen next year but I think it’s a safe bet it will happen in the next few years.

I’m one of those who bought a Tesla before seeing how cuckoo he is. Frankly that’s just one of a number of reasons why I won’t buy another. I’m a big proponent of EV’s, so when the time comes in a few more years then I’ll be replacing my Tesla with an EV from another manufacturer.

[–] FanciestPants@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

I wish I weren't so cynical, but in the US it could become much more difficult to buy an EV from any other company. Elump could use targeted tariffs to hurt competitors, or deport their work forces, or use justice dept to strip patents from competitors.

"I bought this before Elon went crazy"

No, no you didn't, he was just better at hiding it. But now that you're all caught up, glad to see you're doing the bare minimum.

I feel pretty smug about the fact I realised that Musk was a dumb, attention seeking prostitute pretty early. I believe it was around 2015 (?) when he said some shit how AI is about to destroy the world, and He, The Mighty Knight, is there to prevent it™. Or something along the lines. I was never really interested in him, but that immediately sounded like he has no fucking clue what he s talking about

But yeah i didn't see the Nazi thing coming

But yeah i didn't see the Nazi thing coming

This is happening almost daily for me, when i read news or overhear people talking at work for example. I'm afraid the next holiday season will be as family destroying as it was in 2016.

Someone said "i did nazi this coming" 3 times in a row, in front of a mirror and cursed the world by turning 50% of its inhabitants into nazis, overnight.

Worldwide, suddenly it's not only ok to be a Nazi, but they are everywhere and taking power.

What is this fucking nightmare?

Invasion of the body snatchers?

They live?

Dawn of the living dead?

The ever present paranoia in movies from that era, was always something eerie to me, something that i couldn't really imagine happening in the world i knew.

I'm starting to relate more and these movies are starting to have a new impact on me, because it kind of is happening right in front of our eyes.

I'm starting to feel the same unease irl.

People i have known my whole life, suddenly nazi. No, really, fuck this shit.

This reads as "Trump voters against Trump" to me.

You have a choice. I don't feel sorry for you, you tools.

[–] ZDL@ttrpg.network 3 points 3 weeks ago

Of course what's going to happen is that Apartheid Manchild fanbois are going to buy a Tesla, then one of these stickers to have people not urinate on their car or whatever.
