This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Don't worry OP, I know what it's like. I was hated over there, and banned from there for posting articles about Trump gaining over Harris in the polls. Which of course, turned out to be correct. And my love to third parties. :)

And now that the election is over, that sub's true colors are showing. It's become 10 times more toxic than it was just a few weeks ago when I was still in it.

The shit people say there now is way worse than anything I ever said. LMAO It's fucking crazy times over there. lol

Good riddance to them!

I still come across people there accusing some posters of being me. As if I would post in that shithole now! lololol

Even the crybabies that told on me every day don't seem to be there anymore.

You need multiple accounts to work around instance defederation.

On centralized platforms banning multiple accounts make sense if one account was banned, but on the fediverse it makes zero sense.

Also in the early days content federation was very poor (it still is sometimes) and multiple accounts were a necessity because if the instance federation was broken or someone wasn't subscribed to that community on your end it just didn't exist, was inaccessible, or was completely empty. So it makes sense to have multiple accounts.

Also instances do die. Many of the instances that started up when Lemmy first became popular aren't around anymore. Big players still are but the really small no-name ones like (i.e Lemmy.ninja, unilem.org, etc.) don't exist anymore. Having multiple accounts safeguards against that by having redundant ones that will still be there when and if the others disappear.

Indeed, I don't get the reasoning, except if the previous account was banned

Calling out bad faith. And havibg multiple accounts. Nothing bannable according to their rules. Looks like mods looking for a reason to ban.

Mods there definitely look for reasons to ban. It's become more of a toxic shithole the last few weeks. I thought it was bad before they banned me, but now, reading the modlog is freaking fascinating! lmao

Seems to be a reasonable reaction to me.

having multiple fediverse accounts is not bannable, and ad hominem is itself bad faith. calling it out is not.

Childish drama. On your part.

that's what this post is, but it's not what caused the ban

Ydi, if only for the crappy post itself
