The Russian withdrawal from Ukrainian territory is the fastest way to any peaceful resolution...

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 3 points 1 week ago

Ukraine will have to give back all its gains in Russia. Russia won't have to give back anything. And Ukraine will be restricted in its ability to join alliances. That will be the deal. The only question is whether Zelensky is forced to step down as well.

Trump is Putin's bumboy and will do anything he says.

They're the same picture

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 42 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And, I assume, by giving up the rest of its territory.

[–] InverseParallax@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Dude, fucking spoiler alert man, wtf?

[–] xenomor@lemmy.world 42 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Peace through capitulation. What a strong leader we’ve empowered.

"But he never started a war!"

Just surrendered in Afghanistan (and left Biden to finish the withdrawal), sold out the Kurds, sent weapons to the Saudis to massacre Yemenis, tried (and failed) to start a war by assassinating an Iranian general, and made the shitty fake Middle East peace deal that invited Netanyahi to start the Gaza genocide.

We will have peace for our time.

Not a week after the elections and Putin is already pushing the trump team to get shit done

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 30 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Don't worry, the same people saying that genocide is unacceptable will be cheerleading for the genocide of Ukrainians.

[–] InverseParallax@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Hey, easy there.

They also don't give a shit about the genocide of Mexicans in America either.

I wouldn't normally consider antisemitism, but maybe that's why they only care about Palestinians and literally nobody else. Or maybe it's just their own special version of racism.

As a brown person in America they clearly don't care about genocide here.

Maybe it's like champagne, it's only genocide when in the genocide region of Israel, when Russia does it it's just sparkling ethnic cleansing.

In other words, rewarding Russia's aggression. Putin says "jump," Trump says "How high?"

[–] InverseParallax@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Putin says "Deeper"

Trump says "Hlaotheep-larg-larg?"

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 1 points 1 week ago

I imagine those two like a frame from an S Clay Wilson comic.

That's the worst. If it's worth it in the end, this will not be tge last war in Europe.

[–] teawrecks@sopuli.xyz 24 points 1 week ago

This is the definition of appeasement, and it historically never works out for the president who tries it.

But then again, the president has never been a Russian asset before, so who knows, maybe it'll work out exactly as he expects.

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago

Russia owns these bitches.

“Be peace, not win.”

[–] HappycamperNZ@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Can biden/ Harris spend the next few months sending over a couple of squadrons of aircraft, spares/ supplies and arms to place Ukraine in a much better position? He cat exactly take them back.

Possibly a 1 month intense training for pilots as well.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They can only send what's been allocated, and maybe a little wiggle room on certain things, but otherwise congress would need to approve it. They're already trying to make sure they use up the last of what was allocated before the end of the year.

[–] BigBenis@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

He would never. But Biden could go over Congress and send whatever the fuck he wants. What's Congress gonna do, impeach him?

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

If they have all of congress they could impeach, convict and then trump could sick the DOJ on him and the conservative courts would then find a way to bypass it being an official act and jail him.

[–] BottleOfAlkahest@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Biden could send American troops but he can't allocate funding, congress holds the purse strings.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Don't concentrate on the tanks rolling through your living room, concentrate on peace.

[–] vetehinen@lethallava.land 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Guessing their sudden desire for peace is very selectively applied. @news@lemmy.world

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago

It's the peace of the graveyard.

[–] WrenFeathers@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

I’ve a feeling that the “peace” he’s talking about will only happen once he ends all US aid to Ukraine thereby enabling his handlers in Russia to roll on in and take control.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Surprise surprise surprise 🙄

[–] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 1 week ago

That shit didn't take long :-(
