And none of them will get any of it. But they will blame it on the democrats and the left anyway.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 23 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

I wonder how many alien civilizations also died slap-fighting each other as their planet burned down.

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago

This is actually a part of the calculus that goes into figuring out "where the hell are all the interplanetary civilizations at?"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drake_equation

One of the terms is literally "L = the length of time for which such civilizations release detectable signals into space". Which is to say that no alien civilization is expected to last forever and maybe not even for that long (barring any mitigating factors of course).

[–] spicehoarder@lemm.ee 7 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Our data currently shows 100%

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Tell the Lieutenant Commander to double check that.

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 58 points 14 hours ago (3 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong

  1. Missouri, Montana, Nevada, and Arizona voted for abortion rights on state level.
  2. More than half of Florida voted for same but couldn't reach the threshold required to overturn the abortion ban.
  3. Nebraska voted for marijuana legalization.

All of these states also overwhelmingly voted for Trump whose administration has power to ban both of these things on federal level.

These people want progressive policies but will follow that 'R' straight to hell.

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 4 points 2 hours ago

To be completely fair, they've also been told their party is 100% on board with "state's rights" the entire time. It's dissonant as ever, but I can easily see people getting very confused by all this.

Now I'm wondering if steamrolling over republican governors is a part of the plan?

[–] Freefall@lemmy.world 10 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Gonna be hilarious when suddenly state's rights gets hit with the "no...not like that" 180 back into let the federal government decide.

[–] nexusband@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Silver lining could be, they'll just do a lot of infighting and bickering and do not get stuff done properly. There's a very slim chance that the U.S. Democracy can withstand that again.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Hopefully. That’s the real fear, the real danger: this time fascists have thought ahead rather than be surprised at winning. What if they’re competent?

[–] Carrick1973@lemmy.world 6 points 4 hours ago

The explanation is that those people are selfish. Plain and simple. They want to be able to have abortions and smoke pot themselves, but they don't want any "others" to receive anything. Republicanism can be explained so easily as "Fuck you, I've got mine!".

Lmao too fucking bad. You fucking assholes voted for him and he’s gonna trash it.

Am I experiencing the popcorn phase of the grief cycle?

[–] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 203 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

I guess they'll be disappointed

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 6 hours ago

Disappointed by what? Oh hey, shiny thing...

[–] WaxiestSteam69@lemmy.world 64 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

It doesn't matter. He won't be willing to extend any programs from the Biden administration just because.

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 13 points 15 hours ago

The because is because he cut deals with Oil companies to get funding for his campaign. Went as far as to say a large enough donation would guarantee he would stop all the Biden admins restrictions.

Money is all that ever mattered to him.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 7 points 17 hours ago

And this will be a wet dream for them, because "uh pwned duh libzzzzzz!!!!111"

[–] breadsmasher@lemmy.world 140 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

but they hate immigrants more

[–] Boddhisatva@lemmy.world 108 points 20 hours ago (4 children)

Not really immigrants. That's just the dog-whistle. It's minorities of every kind they hate.

[–] Phoenicianpirate@lemm.ee 4 points 3 hours ago

And many minorities voted R, too. Thinking they're one of the good ones...

[–] Stovetop@lemmy.world 55 points 20 hours ago (3 children)

We're gonna see how far they can stretch the label of immigrants, too. Born in the US to foreign parents? Back on the boat with you.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 56 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

I have seen a youtube video where a woman who weighs roughly 400lbs is riding on one of those mobility scooters in home depot, and yelling at another woman to "GO BACK TO CHINA!!!" to which the woman replies "M'am, I'm Native American", and the woman yells "I DON'T CARE WHATCHU IS!!! GET OUTTA MY COUNTRY, AND GO BACK HOME!!!"

Zero hint of humor, or irony, or brain cells in that one.

[–] Boddhisatva@lemmy.world 43 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Just like this Idaho state senator who told his American Indian opponent, "I'm so sick and tired of this liberal bullshit. Why don't you go back to where you came from?"

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 16 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

I think you're legally allowed to slap him at that point

Well, if they are non-white. I'm sure people that are deemed sufficiently white won't have any problems, even if "illegal".

[–] Tugboater203@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

It depends on how much money they have.

Right. White immigrants are fine. They just don’t want brown people from “shithole nations.”

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 14 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

And white isn't even concisely labeled. Italians and Irish used to not be white for a time.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 6 hours ago

Exactly fucking this. Words don't have meaning to fascists, they will include whomever they want to include, and they will never provide any kind of rational reasoning for the exceptions that are made.

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 7 points 15 hours ago

And a Spanish named state, with a Spanish based flag, hates people of Spanish decent. Even if they are of Spanish decent. See Florida.

100% of what voters want no longer matters. Trump is our king and dictator now. This country has handed over the senate, the presidency, and possibly even the popular vote to him. America has said, full heartedly "Yes Mr Trump, we want your particular brand of bullshit. We love it. You make the rules, and we'll lick your butthole!"

This is the world we live in.

So when these 78% of people who support Bidens policys don't get what they claim to support, I want you all to remember. You played the election like a sports league. You supported your team. You discarded all of the problems with the teams players. You just put on that red hat, with white text, and said "GO SPORTS!!!"

This is the result. You did this America. You did this.

[–] RattlerSix@lemmy.world 51 points 19 hours ago (3 children)

They don't even understand. These are the same people that love the Affordable Care Act but hate Obamacare.

I'm going to remind the Trump supporters I know every fucking day that they voted for this when it hurts then

[–] mpa92643@lemmy.world 17 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (1 children)

Every family gathering with my conservative relatives starting on 1/20, I'm going to complain about prices and ask why Trump hasn't brought them down yet like he said he would on day 1.

Any time gas prices go up, I'll be sure to point it out. Airplane tickets, same thing. Any item that fluctuates in price, I'll be sure to let them know it's clearly Trump's fault it's gotten more expensive. It must be his policies.

When they inevitably bend over backwards to try to explain that it's more complicated than that, I'm going to remind them just how often they complained about Biden being singlehandedly responsible as President for high prices and how easily they said he could bring them down if he just "changed his policies."

I'm sure they'll see no issue with their past positions, but it'll be cathartic for me nonetheless having to listen to them for the last 4 years.

[–] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

It's deeply satisfying to cut them out of your life entirely, if that's an option for you. I have no regrets.

A conservative will not become more intelligent or less conservative, no matter what you show them.

[–] SkyNTP@lemmy.ml 13 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (1 children)

Holding Trump supporters accountable for their actions is the only way forward. There are no more excuses. Every bad thing to happen now moving forwards is 100% on Trump supporters AND complacent bystanders who chose not to take a stand. It was plain for everyone to see. Repudiate fascism and the toxicity plaguing the country at every opportunity.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 9 points 16 hours ago

Yes, collectively, people need to stop coddling assholes in general, and Republicans very specifically. If they find it "mean" or they bitch about the tone, tell them where they can stick THAT kind of talk after they voted for donnie and chant stuff like "lock her up" and "fuck your feelings".

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 6 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Please do. Every normal American needs to remind the dipshits in their lives what THEY voted for when they are bitching about the outcomes.

They think diaper donnie has a magic wand that will give them cheap groceries, gas prices like it was 1950, and add an inch or two to their dick (or their SO's dick if they are a straight woman).

I'll be here to remind them, you can be sure of that.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

The problem is, there might be some (very destructive) things that someone with total power could do to lower prices in the short term, so people think it's real... Before the long term consequences of those things come around. But by that point they will have at least one scapegoat to pin it on.

...and when they are upset that they are not getting them, I guess we can parrot back their favorite slogan, then, and tell them "fuck your feelings, MAGA!"

[–] DandomRude@lemmy.world 28 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago) (1 children)

Unfortunately, this particular leopard will eat everyone's face.

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 25 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

I mean, the leopard typically does. That's the point of the leopard eating faces meme.

But “economic anxiety”. Yeah sure bubs. Nice to see you elected a traitor, a rapist, a fraudster, a racist, a failed businessman who bankrupted a CASINO

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 12 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Plus the orange jackass is going to fuck over the economy with massive tariffs and then give tax breaks to the 1% while removing the worker protections and social services the working class relies on.

[–] Tower@lemm.ee 11 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

And when the economy tanks, him and his rich buddies will be right there to buy everything for pennies on the dollar, putting the screws to all of us even harder.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 6 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I have to laugh at how so many people say "but the economy".

How much fucking better could it be? Nearly every indicator was a good one. Sure, prices were up, but they were up in every country due to some inflation, although we had less and in many cases it recovered faster than elsewhere. But nearly everyone kept repeating this bullshit over and over, along with "but the crime" and "so many immigrants". What the actual fuck.

Yet, they much rather vote for someone that’s completely against their interests. Fucking Clowns.

[–] Myxomatosis@lemmy.world 10 points 19 hours ago

Fuck you, idiot clowns. Much like the abortion issue, you don’t get to have your cake and eat it too. Everything is on the chopping block.
