Sadly what we've seen in the past is initial support of unions until it starts impacting people. Then it switches from "we support you" to "why are you causing me issues and not just working?".

That's actually the point where it should matter most and support should be the highest because it means that's the best impact, but alas most people are selfish.

I mean that's the same energy as people complaining about people blocking roads in protests.

The point is to disrupt your life and force you to pay attention to the issue. Most people just get pissed and completely ignore the issue and just want the protestors gone.
