This would be a funny pic regardless, but their facial expressions make it great.

I guess "Antony" dressing doesn't have the same ring

[โ€“] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Could dress as a giant Italian ant.

If they had a kid he'd be dressed as a Little Caesar's pizza box.

As long as someone doesn't come dressed as Caesar August.

Doesn't seem to be "their" idea.

I would be too if I was with her

You really can't read faces, at all. I'm generally bad at it but that is very, very clearly not a "I'm happy" face.

Ah yes, the famous couple of Caesar and Cleopatra.

[โ€“] meliaesc@lemmy.world 21 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Yes... I'm not sure if you were unaware or just restating the joke?

Julius Caesar and Cleopatra were a thing. He's the dude who had her delivered in a rolled up carpet.

[โ€“] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Slightly incorrect, she snuck into his palace, she wasn't delivered.

Apparently it was actually a cloth sack but the plays and films prefer carpets so w/e

What you're missing is the fact that Julius had a lot of "things." He also thought Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were For the Boys.

As a couple Mark Antony and Cleopatra are probably a bit more famous, as it's far more dramatic (ending with their executions at the end of the civil war), they actually married, and it was by all repute actually a love match. Or at least a sincere affection match.

I don't think that's the joke, dude. Not the main joke, anyhow.

The concept is "disappointed GF, Idiot BF."

Reminds me of a scene in supertroopers

There was an expectation...
