I'm surprised they didn't try to light the beer on fire rather than just shooting the cans.

Well, right-wing authoritarianism and social dominance orientation (ie. conservatism – let's not pretend there's a non-authoritarian, non-dominant version) are both risk factors of torture-like abuse^1, so yeah, if they started seeing their children as something other than the in-group (maybe the kids got "woke"?), a huge percentage of them would probably have no qualms literally torturing them if they knew they wouldn't get punished for it

Well, there was this one guy, who killed his child, just because God told him to.

So maybe this works out the same....

You bad girl 😏 little naughty thing 😏 economy, inflation, bad bad thing you 😏 daddy gonna fix it 😏 silly slutty macroeconomics 😏

This. Shit. Is. Not. Normal.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

At this point, what even IS normal? We've lived through 2020. The word has lost all meaning. Nothing has meaning anymore. May as well get a refund for the louisianna purchase, and then france can sell it to the british. Then the british have the second american revolutionary war.

None of it makes sense. None of it needs to. Nothing is normal. I'm mentally worn out. You could tell me Mike Tyson is the next leader, and all he wants to do is institute a national puppy hugging hour. 7pm. Everybody is mandated to hug the puppies.

Sure. That may as well happen.

I heard the clip. It was weirder and grosser than the headline implies, and the applause was more tepid than thunderous

They went wild for the “daddy’s home and he’s mad” bit.

That is fucking insane. That is scary.

These Trump people will absolutely let themselves be dominated and abused. They will welcome fascism.

I told people back in 2016 that trump reminded me of hitler. People said I was being dramatic.

I didn't like bush. I hated bush. I NEVER said bush had similarities to hitler.

I hated reagan. Reagan's policies are still hurting us, long after his death. Prisons should NOT be for profit! Reagan wasn't hitler.

But from day 1, trumps speeches, and the content of his words, his actions, even some of his mannerisms, they all reeked of hitler. I'm not being dramatic.

He built a wall, deported the race of people he didn't like, and also rounded them up using secret police, arrested them, and then killed them.

Wait, was that hitler who did that, or trump? Oh right, it was both. They both literally did those things.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Hitler wasn’t really known for building a wall. If you’re referring to the wall separating East and west Germany, that was the Russians long after Hitler’s death.

But yeah, I agree with your other observations.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Errrmmmm.......

Actually, I wasn't talking about the Berlin wall.....

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 22 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

This was, no kidding, one of the weirdest things I've ever seen.

[–] interrobang@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 2 weeks ago

100%. I'm struggling to find language for just how fucking weird that was.

Its like they're worshipping the wrath they feel as divinely justified? He even addresses how openly cruel it sounds by claiming 'he loves us'!?

Lets not forget the turbo-pedo-misogyny, either. That was fetishistic as hell.

What. The. Fuck.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

I know we shouldn't kink shame and all, but for fuck's sake, Tucker...

So this is how democracy dies…

Threatening bodily harm to the vice president? Any normal person would get a tete-a-tete with the secret service...

I don't think he meant Harris, feels more like he was just living out some creepy conservative pedophile fantasy where the US is personified by a "hormone-addled 15-year-old girl" who deserves a spanking – because normal, well-adjusted people spank their children, especially teenagers.

Even if he did mean Harris, consequences are for people who aren't conservatives – they can do and say almost anything without any sort of legal consequence.
