It's a hat. It shouldn't cost hundreds of dollars. I just want something like a semi-fashionable floppy sunhat and a straw hat. I've only seen them in bougie a.f. places or the straw hats from bunnings that don't fit my comically large head.

Please, save me from melanoma or bankruptcy. Where can I find nice hats without leather/animal glues in sydney? Ideally western sydney.

Have you had a look at the Cancer Council Shops?

Their stuff is always reasonably-priced, certified SPF, and their website lists hat sizes up to 63cm: https://www.cancercouncilshop.org.au/collections/hats?filter.p.m.custom.hat_sizes=63cm&filter.p.m.custom.hat_sizes=61cm&filter.p.m.custom.hat_sizes=60cm&filter.p.m.custom.hat_sizes=59cm

Their website lists a 'Kiosk' in Penrith, but I'm guessing that might have a limited selection, in which case the nearest 'Store' is in Hornsby: https://www.cancercouncilshop.org.au/pages/store-finder

Stores? Ooh look!
Weird that Brisbane and Perth (two of the hottest/sunniest cities in the country) don't get a store. I wonder whether we did have stores and they went out of business? Seems like a weird omission otherwise.

Perth definitely used to. I feel there might have been one in Subiaco but the last time I went there would have 20 odd years ago. The one in Chatswood that closed either late last year or earlier this year. I guess it's a declining business

I thought they were just a sunscreen thing! Neat.

Have you tried a Surf store? DFO might have some outlets worth checking.

Otherwise, thrifty shopping. Take a day trip to the Northern Beaches and check their local Vinnie's/Salvos, I'm sure they'll have something nice for a low price.

I haven't tried a surf store actually, remarkable lack of beaches out past Penrith lmao. It's a good idea though, although it's sort of a mission to travel that way. I was gonna go visit the gong at some point this summer so it might be an opportunity to get one there.

Dad picked up a straw hat from Lowe's for $25 the other day. Has a draw sting. I don't know if he has big head though. They had a version of those beach straw hats and some kind of floppy sunhats for around the same price, the kind you kinda associate with hiking. I can't attest to the quality of any of them.

I suspect Lowes might make some styling choices that wouldn't be very flattering on me. Unsure if they have crocheted flowers and so on ;)

Nah they're plain styled hats. Lowe's seems to be the kinda shop you can find in any mall or shopping centre so thought I'd mention it for that reason.
