Internet chatter and Oklahoma arrest of alleged would-be IS attacker indicate terror group’s planning

After the FBI arrested an Afghan man in Oklahoma planning an election day shooting on behalf of the Islamic State, the terrorist organization re-entered what has become one of the most chaotic news cycles leading up to a November vote.

Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, 27, of Oklahoma City admitted to investigators he and a co-conspirator expected to die as IS martyrs as they opened fire on crowds on election day, according to charging documents.

Warnings about IS-sponsored or -inspired attacks in the west have intensified in recent weeks.

Would it be the wrong time to remind people that voting by mail may be available in their area?

For those that choose to vote early I will not judge them.

I’m voting on Election Day. Part because I don’t feel like voting early, part as a way to thumb my nose at those who would try to make me live in fear.

Vote early instead! It only helps other people who aren't aware. It would be real funny to see them try to intimidate people, but ultimately fail because there is barely any line at the polling place when they go.

I don't think the timing could ever be more right.

Early voting almost certainly is, by mail or in person. And it's unlikely that anyone is going to attack someone who is voting before election day.

Fucking knew this would happen. Right after Biden (not totally his fault) pull out of Afghanistan Oklahoma brought a lot of the people from that region here. I thought "bet some of these people will resent us." and also wonder if any of them would become terrorist over it. Fuck me if I wasn't right. Goddamm I need to see if we can vote now and by mail.
