Give these guys another ten years and no one will understand anything they say because they will have invented their own language that only they understand.

[–] meco03211@lemmy.world 43 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They already do this. There's videos of these idiots threatening to "sue your bond" whatever the hell that means. They also take normal words and reinterpret them to mean something completely different than intended. There was an idiot in court being asked if he wanted to be represented by the public defender. He acted confused and asserted he was fully capable of presenting himself to the court, and there would be no need to RE-present himself again. They be crazy.

Its the bonds that the govt if hiding from their citizens. Which just sounds like something a parent told their child to explain a savings bond they bought when they were born. Then, it got misinterpreted and mixed with legal jargon and spread as true truth. ~~Language~~ learning is hard sometimes

Is that not already the case?

I think maybe /u/BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world would be the best person round these parts to write a sovcit to sane person dictionary, as much as it's even possible (because I'm fairly sure a lot of things can't even be translated).

Like what the hell is "Without prejudice" supposed to mean here? I know what either of the words alone mean, but I have no idea what THEY mean by prejudice. Other than that, this one seems to be one of the more understandable posts as far as use of language is concerned.

This would be a great plot point to some novel or movie that someone could write.

Some post apocalyptic society of people who are trying to survive in a new world run into a community of people that speak this strange foreign language. The lost survivors can understand individual words but the meanings or associations to all those words have been lost and now mean new things that can no longer be understood.

What I don't get about sovcits is that they are trying to operate under a different legal system that leads where exactly? Do they think that eventually they'll reach an Arcane Judge who will acknowledge that they've cracked the code and can go on about their business, unlike the rest of us suckers who don't know the right incantations?

[–] mosiacmango@lemm.ee 43 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Literally yes.

They think they can exploit the legal system in such a way that they get all the legal protecions, but none of the responsibility or liability.

They want to legally drive on roads they don't pay for while obeying none of the laws, all without insurance or any legal liability to other drivers.

They want us to be their suckers.

They think the world runs on clever wordplay rather than soft power that is backed by hard power.

This is what gets me the most about SovCits.

You don't like the state's monopoly on violence and don't feel like you shouldn't have to follow rules you didn't agree to? Sure, that makes sense.

But thinking there are magic words that will make the state give up it's ability to do violence and let you do whatever you want... that's just crazy.

They have skimmed different legal concepts, found that if you invoke a specific legal concept you can be permitted to do somethings that you else couldn't do.

They don't understand how to actually invoke the legal concept and what it means for themselves, as to what actions and responsibillities they need to face, since they don't understand that they treat it as a magic spell.

A classic example is declaring bankrupcy, you need to declare it in a proper way to the government, you then need to work your way out of the situation with the government, you can't just shout it in a public place and expect it to work...

[–] atempuser23@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

They want the legal system to work for them like it does for the rich. They think they are invoking the same kind of arcane stuff the best lawyers do.

It does seems kind of like magic when you see the rich get out of trouble.

So much effort.

Just produce a laminated, card sized piece of paper that says “without prejudice” in red ink and call it your licence/ID/whatever.

[–] wiccan2@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Did you even do your research before writing this, you can't just write "without prejudice" in red ink, it has to be diagonal to make it legitimate.

/S

Yeah. And it's your thumbprint on top of the signature that needs to be in red. Amateur.

Do you know how you get a licence while retaining all your rights? you just get a fucking licence. Stop making problems for your person.

These brain doners are why actual sovereign individuals don't talk publicly.

[–] boonhet@lemm.ee 8 points 1 month ago (3 children)

brain doners

I do wonder if you originally meant "brain donors" or "brain döners". I think the latter makes more sense in this instance.

"Hey boss! Chicken, Lamb, or KALIMAH?"

[–] metaStatic@kbin.earth 2 points 1 month ago

Mmm delicious brain meatsticks

[–] i_stole_ur_taco@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

No, no, not those rights. He means the other ones.

[–] metaStatic@kbin.earth 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh right, I always forget about the lawful right to endanger the public with an uninsured non-roadworthy private conveyance. My mistake.

[–] Dragonstaff@leminal.space 1 points 1 month ago

My four fathers died to protect my right to travel upon the land in an uninsured non-roadworthy private conveyance! /s

Michigander detected

(or are there other states that use secretary of state?)

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 11 points 1 month ago

Illinois is also Sec of State, but we all call it DMV.

Tell him to change his name to "Without Prejudice Bob Smith".
