Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

in upper body daya I can leave the gym basically dry. leg day though I'm drenched

both days I push to or close to failure

roughly same amount of time

is it just because legs haveuch more muscle mass?

Leg's are half your body (more or less). On top of that some exercises involve your back and core muscles, like squats. So you're actually engaging a good chunk of muscles when working out legs.

I'm not an expert, but I'd say it's because your legs are basically half your body. Not only that but most leg exercises require the use of other muscles. Like, if you're squatting with weights you are using pretty much every major muscle group in your body.

I'll add to this that legs and feet make for surprisingly good heat dumps when blood is pumping, so if you're using them to generate the heat, the rest of the body has to do the radiating instead.

It's because fingers are really good. Legs don't have fingers, it's basically the only difference if you think about it. Fingers make everything better. Find someone with really long toes and ask how their leg day goes, see if I'm wrong

so if I put gloves on my feet I'll sweat less because that's basically like having fingers right?

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Theoretically yes, but you should probably consult your local tarsier monkey for specific guidance

oh Timmys actually out right now, would an orangitan be acceptable?

Your quadriceps are the largest muscles in your body (the second largest being your lattisimus dorsi). That's why squats are often considered to be the most effective exercise you can do for weight loss and muscle building.

It's understandable that working the largest muscles in your body would cause you to potentially sweat more profusely than working your other muscles, though the amount you sweat is the result of a myriad of factors like genetics and overall health.

Work done is force multipled by distance moved. Leg day is simply much more work.

[–] K1nsey6@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I'm the same way. That's the only day I need a sweat towel

[–] tyrant@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I breathe harder too. My theory was the same as yours, just it's a lot larger of a muscle. I'm not an expert though

[–] Smeagol666@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago

I'm not an expert, but I was thinking it probably has to do with muscle memory. If you're only doing "leg day" one day a week/month, then your body isn't used to it, so it feels harder to do.
