Commander format discussion

Also called EDH or Elder Dragon Highlander, Commander is Magic's most popular format and all about picking your hero and building a deck around them. In this casual, multiplayer format, you choose a legendary creature to serve as your commander and build the rest of your 100 card deck around their color identity and unique abilities. Players are only allowed one of each card in their deck, with the exception of basic lands, but they can use cards from throughout Magic's history.

Commander combines the command zone, color identity, singleton deckbuilding, multiplayer strategies, and the entire MtG cardpool for one of the most exciting and fresh ways to play.

Over the past week, the conversation has escalated, culminating with unacceptable personal threats to the safety of members of the Commander Rules Committee.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Woah... not sure what to think about that. I really liked that the format was not controlled by wotc. Although, I guess since they started printing Commander cards and started selling Commander decks and others products for the format, they already had some sort of control over it. Maybe it's better when this weird setup is finally consolidated? I don't know. Feels weird.

I think it makes sense, but the comment of reviewing the ban list without further bans makes me concerned.

They don't have a solid track history of handling bans well or timely in other formats. Also recently we had Nadu who was designed for the format that it was just banned in.

They did admit that Nadu was a mistake, though.
