Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.

As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades: Graph of temperature as observed with significant warming, and simulated without added greenhouse gases and other anthropogentic changes, which shows no significant warming

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world: IPCC AR6 Figure 2 - Thee bar charts: first chart: how much each gas has warmed the world. About 1C of total warming. Second chart: about 1.5C of total warming from well-mixed greenhouse gases, offset by 0.4C of cooling from aerosols and negligible influence from changes to solar output, volcanoes, and internal variability. Third chart: about 1.25C of warming from CO2, 0.5C from methane, and a bunch more in small quantities from other gases. About 0.5C of cooling with large error bars from SO2.

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:

Because of the National Security Act, the laws of the United States, and the rules of this platform I cannot freely share my feelings on the contents of this article.

Just imagine what I might say using the above statement as context. Here's a hint, I'm on the side of Greenpeace.

People need to Quit with the self censoring, and say what they want. We aren't on some corporate platform, this is a privately owned instance, you dipshit, Fucking say it you scared bitch

I don't live in the American savage lands.

Fuck billionaires.

Eat em all.

Freshly sliced.

Raw or burnt on their floating sanctuaries.

Feed em to the sharks. An inch at a time.

Clad them in armour and set them up the pike.

I will gladly support an open fishing season of billionaires and their cronies.

I've never had a trophy head on my wall.

Just saving this post until I can find his home address or where he parks his mega yacht.

I'm fully team Orca. Sink em all.

[–] BaroqueInMind@lemmy.one 2 points 2 months ago

his yacht is parked right here in Galveston

I predict you will do nothing and remain impotent as all internet outrage typically is. This is why Greenpeace are big dick energy and a threat to this billionaire and not you

Lemmy is an instance. Once you post, it duplicates on other instances (to my understanding). If you delete your post, it doesn't delete completely. It will never truly delete. Things you say are permanent. After some time, you may be able to piece together a person's life and location.

It makes me wonder how these people sleep at night.

And this is why we need to tax or axe billionaires out of existence. I mean yes, let them choose. But one or the other.
