I'm not in any way an affected party here (non US, cis male), but to me, it seems being kept out of the spotlight might not be the worse thing ever.

If the dems make any kind of noise over trans rights, the Rs and Fox news will turn it into a complete shitshow, which will only serve to stoke hatred?

Very fucked situation, I feel for all of you who are affected by this bullshit.

Yeah, I have more of a stake in this and I agree. The DNC is for building campaign momentum and enticing donors, just because the GOP is losing their minds over the existence of a tiny portion of the population doesn't mean making it a talking point is the right choice

Agreed. If GOP candidates spout anti-trans BS, they aren’t gaining any votes. Conversely, Dems doing the opposite risk losing moderates. People forget the moderates are really just fickle bitches looking for reasons not to vote for someone perceived as “too liberal.” For the most part, Dems are going to be friendlier to trans people. Saying it out loud probably costs them more than it they gain from it. It’s a fucked up reality.

ETA: Ask the gays how they felt about it in the 80s & 90s.
