I just don't want to participate with Threads. i dont think they are good people. How do I fight that war?

It’s an interesting video and having read the comments there are a few things worth noting:
- from a layman’s perspective I understand the focus on threads, for most like it or not it’s the simplest entry point into the Fediverse
- its important that this type of podcast is talking about this subject at this time
- sure it’s dumbed down, we are not the audience
It’s no surprise either it was released as Meta did some big fediverse PR yesterday…
What’s important right now is getting bums on seats, keeping activitypub momentum moving forward.

It's hard to know why Meta wants the fediverse: they can already scrape most of the data and it doesn't pose a threat to them, so why bother EEEing it? Maybe kill it while it's growing?
The only useful information i got was that AT supports account migration, that's cool.
What protocol war and who cares about it, without asking me to watch a video? I have felt that the main conflict in the fediverse was human disagreement over who should be allowed to discuss what, not about protocols. Look at the current battle about vegan cat food, for example.

It's honestly so hard to take them seriously.
Why is that? I mean, seriously asking, has there been any report on MKBHD selling out? I do like the content he creates and all the ads he shows are clearly marked as ads.
